Take a first look at the Sons of Marduk
Introducing the Sons of Marduk
The Sons of Marduk gather inspiration from many historical sources, including the Assyrian and Babylonian cultures of the ancient ages, but also the Achaemenid Empire -commonly known as the Persian Empire- and some Middle Ages armory and equipment.
Marduk, in Mesopotamian religion, is the chief god of the city of Babylon and the national god of Babylonia; as such, he was eventually called simply Bel, or Lord.
The influence of the Neo-Assyrian, Persian and other Mesopotamian images and representation of their deities and warriors -like those you can find currently in the British Museum in London- will play a huge role in the design of these miniatures, along with armory and pieces of equipment from more recent period, like the Ottoman Empire.
Marduk Warriors
The Marduk Warriors are the core infantry of the Sons of Marduk. Armed with hand weapons, great weapons and shields, they represent the first line of infantry against any force brave enough to enter their domains.
We gathered inspiration from many historical and fantasy sources to create these miniatures, including videogames like For Honor. We decided to follow a more Persian based design with the helmets and overall aesthetic, while keeping the traditional assyrians beards.
Here you can see some of the references that have inspired us to design these miniatures.
A Marduk Warrior basemesh. We use this basemesh as a design template to later modify or add new elements in order to keep everything on scale and properly suited for the miniatures. The miniature is designed over a 20x20mm square base.

A sample selection of shields for the Sons of Marduk.
There will be two available options for the Marduk Warriors, one with a modular hand to build a hand weapon and shield miniature, and a pre-assembled two handed great weapon miniature (non modular).

Finally, here you can see a size by size comparison with a sample dwarf warrior from our Sons of Ymir range of miniatures.
Marduk Shooters
In order to bring more variation to the Sons of Marduk, as they rely heavily on infantry miniatures, we decided to break the designs in two for the basic dwarfs: melee and range designs.
For the Marduk Shooters we decided to follow a slightly modern approach, gathering inspiration from the Ottoman janissaries and their iconic helmet. Even though they belong to a different time and period, we believe the final design blends very well with the Marduk Warriors.
Here you can see some of the references that have inspired us to design these miniatures.
A Marduk Shooter basemesh. We use this basemesh as a design template to later modify or add new elements in order to keep everything on scale and properly suited for the miniatures.
The guns available for the Marduk Shooters: a shorter barrel with a big muzzle to be used as a blunderbuss, and a longer barrel with a smaller muzzle and a sharp close combat weapon attached to it, to be used as a jezzail.
The Marduk Shooters will come with two alternative fully assembled options: blunderbuss and jezzail. Therefore, these miniatures won't be modular.
Marduk Heavy Guard
The Marduk Heavy Guard brings back the iconic cylindrical helmets from many historical sources while increasing the armour of the Marduk Warriors. The face mask plays a huge role in this miniatures, setting them apart from the basic core infantry.
We opted for leaving the mask to just cover the face, while keeping the beard properly visible as we did not want to loose one of the key design elements of this new fantasy race.
Here you can see some of the references that have inspired us to design these miniatures.

Here you can see a sample build with halberd and shield. As the Marduk Warriors previously showcased, the Marduk Heavy Guard will arrive with two optinal builds, one with a modular hand to build a hand weapon -or halberd- and shield miniature, and a pre-assembled two handed great weapon miniature (non modular).
We'll continue working on these miniatures to bring a full set of Sons of Marduk this upcoming November 2025 to Highlands Miniatures.
Stay tuned for the final publication coming by the end of the month!

These are exactly what I wanted for Christmas my friends! Keep up the great work! Do we have a roadmap for the coming half year? Will there be more Marduk? I think the forest goblins you made earlier would make great hobgoblins btw.
Once again you nailed it! I'm a Dwarf player at core, but these guys might be my dawnfall to the darker side! Will you make bulls and machines too ?
Would it be rude of me to ask how many races are on the drawing board for 2026? I'd love to see Beastmen and Lizardmen personally, but I've learned to trust in your artistic direction in any case =)
Of course not Ben! Unfortunately we are forced to depart from some of the classic fantasy races for now, so we may focus on some new human factions in the future!
Needs Bigger hats. π
Great figures, as to be expected and leagues above the modern Chorfs the evil empire just released! But I personally don't like the Ottoman heads. Don't fit with the rest very well and look bad for the past few hundred years.
I love that they are simply different than the other dwarves, not specifically evil. But that the options are still on the table.
So legit. Really excited to get some of these. I think my DnD game's DM really wants to branch out with the type of culture dwarves might have, and I bet he'll dig this.
Fantastic! The shooter hats are a great addition to the style
Thank you for the support Bryan! Glad you like the art style behind these miniatures!
I like these classic Chaos Dwarves partly because that's what I want, and partly because, since you are not doing what the Naughty Hams are doing at the moment, you are not so likely to get sued.
Glad you like the miniatures! We believe these miniatures are fairly unique and distinct from any old or new miniatures as they follow a different aesthetic and art direction, even references -as shown in the publication- so we hope they will be something on their own!
Amazing, was wondering what inspiration you were going for - this is perfect. Now please tell me you're cooking up an Iron Daemon engine!
Thank you for the support, glad you like the miniatures! That's a good question! Concepting that miniature will be a challenge as steam machinery or heavily iron based designs don't suit the aesthetic of these miniatures, nor we plan to follow any previous designs as we are looking for a unique theme with these dwarfs, so any suggestion is more than welcome!
Unbelievable quality. So happy to be part of your patrons!
Thank you very much for the kind words and support!
These looks fantastic. Easily the best Chaos Dwarf equivalent out there. Can't wait for these.
Thank you for the support! Glad you like the miniatures!
Great designs! I especialy love the regular wariors. Now I need to find time to paint one more army!
Thank you for the support! Time to try some of those speedpaints to speed up the process haha
not a big fan of the janissary hats for the blunderbus but I like them overall
Glad you like them!
I was waiting for them, after GW release I was disappointed to the roof, but here they are, beautiful π₯°
Thank you for the support Pawel, we are glad you like the new dwarfs!
U guys rock i cant wait to see the special choices like dwarf centaur etc etc. Thanks a million I will forever be a patreon
Thank you for your support Laroscoe, as always!
They look absolutely amazing. The janissaries helmets are a great idea !
Thank you very much, glad you like them! We thought it was a nice option to complement the design as they -more or less- suit the vibes!
Absolutely love them. Only minor thought would be itβs be cool to see swords or khopeshes or the like to set them apart, but thats just off the cuff ideas. One of my most eagerly awaited sets from you, and its exceeding my expectations.
Thank you for the support and glad you like the miniatures! Of course! We plan to include a few more hand weapons for the modular hand weapon and shield option, including a couple of swords!
Really great stuff. The jannisary hats work surprisingly well alongside the older looks.
Thank you for the support Colin, glad you like the miniatures! Yes, we belive they complement very well the aesthetic as they don't deviate much from the idea behind these dwarfs!
These are outstanding, and I love seeing the inspirations behind the miniatures. Big fan of the heavy armour and especially the face plates!
Thank you for the support and glad you like the miniatures! We really like this format where we can actually show more about the inspiration and the design process behind the miniatures. We would like to keep doing it for future fantasy races!
MARDUK! MARDUK! MARDUK!
π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯ Thank you for the support!
A great new look for dwarves.
Thank you very much, glad you like them!
Whale oil beef hooked! Guess I'll stay subscribed for a couple more months then. π Outstanding stuff!
Thank you for the support Olivier! We are glad you like them! π§‘
