August 2025 Preview: Introducing the Feral Elves
Introducing the Feral Elves
A truly massive first set of Feral Elves is coming to Highlands Miniatures this Summer 2025.
Deploy the core essence of the Forest in your table with an impressive new set of Feral Elves miniatures: Archers, Spearmen, Axemen and much more will arrive in August 2025.
You’re going to be busy printing soon… so now’s the time to prep your terrain, plan your paint schemes, and get ready for a brand new elven army. 🌿🌿
Ok. Enough chit chat. Let's talk about miniatures!
As always, we like to begin with core infantry and cavalry to quickstart any new fantasy army. Core troops are... well, the core of any army, and it couldn't be no less for these Feral Elves.
With any new race, new challenges also arise. This time, the combination of modular hooded heads and long hair required a new attachment method so they can be really interchangeable and to avoid any mesh intersection with the bodies or the capes. I believe the job is done, and it seems to work just all right!
For the design of these core miniatures -and due to recent news... ehem...- I followed a very classic idea of an elf / human ranger you can find in almost any fantasy background, from Lord of the Rings to Dungeons and Dragons. I hope you like them!

how do i get the link for these ? also september dryads are not in file ?
So these feral elves really need some woodland beasts and some beastmasters to go with them. I am thinking some wolves, some bears, some lynx, some boars etc. You know...all the generic woodland animals you can find that definitely are not copyrightable.
Fantastic work. As always. There's just one small downside I still see with the cavalry, though. The horses look a bit too human-like to me. It would have been nicer if they had been designed a bit leaner and more agile. I'm also still hoping for some elite cavalry mounted on some kind of red deer. That should be generic enough. But once again: You guys are the best 😀
Glad you like the miniatures and thank you for the feedback! Unfortunately we can't go much leaner for the horses due to being 3D prints that must stand all kind of resins, from high quality and durable resins to the complete opposite. Early in Highlands Miniatures -three years ago or so- we used to create horses more 'realistic' but it was an ongoing issue regarding durability, specially the legs, so we decided to increase the overall thickness of the horses to avoid potential issues. About the elite cavalry, unfortunately it will be only on horses, at least at the moment. :(
Overall, looking very good and generic so as not to upset anyone. Personally, some of the horses look a bit odd in their poses and I think an opportunity was missed to make them more wood elf centered, the manes are braided but I would have like to see them woven with branches and leaves etc.
looks amazing
The elves look fantastic! I do prefer a more "elven" mount though, with a mythical elegance. Hopefully your talented sculptors will experiment with future mounts. However still super pleased with all the work your team shares with us!
These feral elves look great to me, and - perhaps most importantly - nice and legally distinct ;) One note: their faces look more slender than the aegean elves, who I've always thought looked a bit puffy-cheeked and strong-browed for elves. These feral elves' faces look more gaunt, higher cheekbones and a flatter brow ridge and such - they look way more elvish to me, I really like them. It would be awesome if you could find the time to refresh the aegean elves faces to be closer to this type, I hope that wouldn't be a lot of work :) I've been a patron since the middle of the Sons of Ymir releases iirc, and if these feral elves are an indication of your new design choices then I shall be continuing to be a patron for a long time to come. Thanks as always!
I really like these sculpts, looking forwards to them, and whatever comes next from you guys. The only thing I think seems a little off, is that the horses have horse shoes on. I would've thought Feral elves wouldn't do that to their mounts?
Thank you Kenny, glad you like them! And nice catch! We forgot to remove the nails from the hooves. We'll do it before the files are released!
I was really keen for this range, but I think it’s the first real miss I’ve ever seen from you guys. The size of the hands is far too big, especially compared to the heads, so it makes them look like puppets.
We are sorry to hear that Cal! The anatomy -bodymesh- of these elves is the same as the Aegean Elves, and the hands are the same as the ones we have been using since early 2024 for both human and elves, so nothing has changed in that regard in many, many months. Thank you for your feedback!
These are incredible!!
Glad you like them Brandon!!
I hate, the fact that you're restricted by BS of a company, that is now angry that people make stuff for something that they let rot for years. Your models are beautiful, please keep up the good work.
Thank you for the support Martin!!
Awesome as usual! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Sascha for your support!
It's beautiful!! I love them! Will we see any elite cavalry in the future? Maybe riding deer, elkor wolves? I love the archer design
Thank you very much Petros! Glad you like them! Regarding your question, yes, there will be a heavy cavalry unit in the future but on horses at the moment!
Those look great! To be honest, I never liked the latest iteration of GW woodelfs. But I adored the old 4th edition ones. Your version is smack dab in the middle, blending oldshool look and modern aesthetics. Looking forward to the rest!
Glad you like them! As we are moving away from the GW-like designs, the upcoming miniatures from this month will have a lot of influences from the Mirkwood Elves, as well as these 'rangers' like designs we have followed for these Feral Archers!
Love them! Love them! Love them! Indeed what I had hoped for.
Figures look great but there's something about the horses that doesn't seem right to me , they look a bit too chunky around the legs
Glad you like them Shaun! The horse anatomy has not changed since 2023, so I guess it is the illusion created because they don't have armour this time!
These are great, but can we have an Elven King being held aloft by some loyal kindred. Maybe he could be standing on something. I don't know, maybe a shield or something.
Surfing on a big Monstera. You know... just in case... 🤣🤣🤣
nice ! but why call em FERAL elves, they dont look that feral, maybe floral elves was better :) - great job !
haha it doesn't have the same punch! Glad you like them! :)
Finally here!!!!!!! You made my day!!!! My printer was cooling down from printing my Aegan army….
And then people say we do not do elves... elves for everyone! 🌿🌿
Fantastic work! Love it. I think the design is well balanced between nostalgia and your own style!
Thank you very much Daniel !! As we mentioned in our previous publication, we will be departing from the usual GW-like style in the coming months. Some of the miniatures will continue to have similarities as they are based on common fantasy designs -like these elf archers which are basic elf / human rangers- but others will be way more unique!
Impresionantes,me encantan, que ganas de que salgan,mi impresora necesita sacar estas monadas en grandes cantidades...
Muchas gracias Marco! Se viene un Agosto tremendo!
I cannot wait for these! I would love to see a potential side bar project of Uruk Hai style Half Orcs that would play off some of this aesthetic.
Uruk Hai you say? Count me in!
Thank you for the modular heads I know that would of been a huge pain, but really worth it,
Thank you Craig! We had to elevate the heads a bit and now the attachment point is half ball instead of a cylinder, but it allows more freedom of rotation and interchangeability!
Que chulos! Me gustan mucho!!
Muchas gracias Alberto!!
Yesssss!!❤️🔥
It's Forest time!!
