July 2024 Preview: the Ancient Arise!

 

 

 As we announced in our Summer Roadmap several weeks ago, a new chapter will be written this July 2024 for the Eternal Dynasties, our egyptian themed undead army; while paying tribute to one of the greatest movies of all time: The Mummy with some miniatures inspired by the visual art of this movie series.

We continue the developmet of this fantasy race with new incredible heavy armoured skeletons, heavy equipment, unique miniatures and much more!

The July 2024 set of miniatures will be composed of:

• 7x Ancient Guard with Halberds

• 7x Ancient Guard with Swords

• 3x Ancient Guard Command Group

• 1x Ancient Stonethrower

• 3x Ancient Stonethrower Crew

• 1x Ancient Skeletal Colossi

• 1x Eternal Priest

• 1x Eternal Prince

• 3x Anubis Guard with heavy weapons

• 3x Anubis Guard with heavy bows

• 2x Scarab Swarms

We will also update our previous Ancient Skeletal Chariots product in MyMiniFactory to include an alternative version of heavy armoured drivers:

• 2x Ancient Chariot Driver Crew

In today's publication we take a quick look at the Anubis Guard with heavy weapons, the Anubis Guard with heavy bows and the Ancient Skeletal Colossi.

As you may now, to sculpt monsters and creatures is not our favourite job, so we always have a hard time sculpting these miniatures. But we try to do our best!

The Anubis Guard is, of course, inspired by the the Army of Anubis from the movie 'The Mummy'. The Army of Anubis is an invincible army of jackal-headed humanoids commanded by those who were loyal to Anubis long ago.

These miniatures are designed over 40x40 mm square bases and they are not modular.

For the Ancient Skeletal Colossi we decided to follow a classic approach as a giant made of bone after many attempts to bring it on a different form. Enormous statues of ancient Pharaohs were commonly seen all over Ancient Egypt, in temples, palaces or mortuary places, like the twin statues known as the Colossi of Memmon.

The design of the armour comes from the Pharaoh Seti I from the movie 'The Mumy'. You can find the reference here. The Ancient Skeletal Colossi is designed over a 50x50mm square base and comes with modular hands, to give you freedom to use any weapon you may want to use for this miniature.
