Beware the power of the Steam Engine!
First of all, we want to hank you all for your participation in the latest poll to select the future fantasy races coming to Highlands Miniatures in a few months. If you have not voted yet, remember that the poll is still open and you can vote HERE.
As we announced in the same publication, for this coming June 2024 we will continue working and updating our old Sunland range of miniatures.
While we cannot post the final list just yet, the new and updated set of Sunland miniatures will include:
Sunland Landsknecht Unit
Sunland Cavalry Unit
Sunland Ironclad Landship
Sunland Artillery Battery
Sunland Altar on Wagon
And today we introduce you the Sunland Ironclad Landship. This Steam Warmachine, the first of its class for Sunland, is designed over a 60x100mm square base.
The Steam Engine
The propulsion engine is based on the historically accurate -almost- 1829 Yellow Stephenson Rocket Steam Locomotive. It was designed and built by Robert Stephenson in 1829, and built at the Forth Street Works of his company in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The Vessel
The front part of the Sunland Ironclad Landship is based on the Ironclad Warship of the late XIX century. For some of you with knowledge about the American Civil War may find this name familiar.
An ironclad was a steam-propelled warship protected by steel or iron armor constructed from 1859 to the early 1890s. The ironclad was developed as a result of the vulnerability of wooden warships to explosive or incendiary shells.
We have tried to bring some of these elements into the design in order to find an unique yet recognizable warmachine.

Hmmm, I may need to figure out a way to have this brute hauling part of the baggage train for the army. Very nice!

Can we get a version without the birds nest?
Hi there! Sadly no, as by doing so it would take away the idea behind the design and may get too close to the original miniature. But you can remove it yourself if you want to !
Will you leave the old files there, or replace them?
We will leave them in the MMF store but as legacy miniatures: not recommended anymore by Highlands Miniatures :)
Excellent
Thank you Garry!!
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water

As someone who has sailed in the Royal Navy and who rides steam engines on the weekends, this is both the most ridiculous and awesome design I've seen in a long while. I'm super stoked to get it. It's excellent.
