Happy ADHD Awareness Month -- The Lies We (Used to) Believe About ADHD

A lot has changed in how we see and talk about ADHD. The stigma still exists, but it’s grip is weakening. We talk about it more now, with each other, with our doctors, with our kids’ teachers. And schools are getting better with their support of ADHD students. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still room for further improvement, but there’s been some real progress in the last ten years… so I wanted to share some of the lies we used to believe about ADHD and how that’s changed.

I think there needs to be a YouTube short clip from this video starting around 15:22 or maybe 15:41 of the video. This message about the value of rest and having fun even if you didn't finish everything you thought you should do as "the responsible human everybody needs me to be." It is so important for us to hear. Jessica puts it so beautifully here: When I take the time for fun, a better version of me shows up, not just for other people, but also for myself."

Thanks to people like you 👏🏼😍 now if we could do the same for autism, then maybe one day we’ll be the left-handed people of the past ☺️ But it’s hard to be an influence on YouTube as an autist (like me in Germany). I can talk anyone’s ear off about autism… as long as there’s no camera on me! 😅 I tried all the little tricks to get my brain used to it, but it’s not happening 😔 What do you do other than videos? Is there another way you think?
