Planning is hard. If, like me, you have ADHD then it comes with its fair share of challenges. Difficulty seeing time, working memory challenges, and more can make us overplan... or we don't plan at all. So... what's the deal? And are there strategies that can help us find a bit of a better balance? Turns out, there are! And while no singular strategy is perfect or foolproof, these tips can make planning feel a bit easier and a bit more worth it.

Thanks for this video. Planning has always been a problem for me. Exactly as you say: if I plan the week (even just mealplanning), it all goes pearshaped by Wednesday at the latest and I have to deal with meat I took out from the freezer and haven't prepared. If I do not, meals require much more effort and are often "same old, same old" because I then use the things I have at hand - frozen veg and cupboard basics. Right now I am trying to find a way to organize my week in terms of "Things I want to find time and energy for" (sewing, painting with both watercolors acrylics and writing) and "Things I need to do" (decluttering, cleaning, training and walking). My meds do help me with my explosive temperament, but they also make me tired and un-energetic. I miss the times where I could push myself to clean the house in two hours (well I say "clean", you know what I mean). Perhaps I need some more meds...

Very topical for me - I’m trying to get my family’s digital board to be more effective right now. I feel a hyperfixation coming on. Every week I know I should block time to plan the week ahead but executive dysfunction plus weekend side quests normally stand in my way. Anyone have any favorite times to plan?I feel like I need two hours or more per week sometimes. /I’m also sick with sick toddler over here. Stay strong!

I use TickTick for everything and I mean everything - “brush your teeth” and “put on deodorant” and the hard things like “cancel subscription.” And it repeats because if I had to redo it everyday - but it helps me with the planning part. I can drag and drop and on a calendar and plan down the minute so my time blindness comes into focus. And I can gamify it. I do love that you call house keepers an accommodation. It’s not in the budget anymore, but I appreciate that language for when we can do it again.
