I love the way this brings community-created strategies together and looks for the common thread between them. ADHD support becomes much more useful when the question is “what helps this brain start?” rather than “why can’t you just start?”
I set up whatever I need to do the task so I can just jump right in when I do start it. I might have several tasks all staged to start, but when I do start it’s quick and easy to get into the flow, no stopping to get a pencil or other item. It works well when I’ve got a big task that takes more than a day to stage things for starting the next day, even if I could easily do it right now. It makes jumping right into the flow when I come back to it. And surprisingly, a nootropic called Cognizin (citicoline) is helping remove the angst that is contributing to my mental roadblocks.
This episode helped me sooooo much the other day when I was stuck.
These are great hints! Do you have a list of them that I can download? In my case, I start a brainless audio book and then I can do things while I listen. I can’t even get dressed without an audiobook. But it can’t be something where my brain needs to be engaged.
I do not but that's not a bad idea... 🤔
