Celebrating Neurodiversity
I got to speak at Google yesterday for their Neurodiversity Week.
Definitely a career highlight to go from Googling things about ADHD and putting what I learned on YouTube at a time when almost no one felt safe disclosing their ADHD in the workplace…
…to speaking at Google during a neurodiversity WEEK in which employees are speaking openly about their challenges and their cafeteria is even making brownies in celebration of minds that work differently.
I know there’s still work to do, and…I am so proud of how far we’ve all come.

I wish I was in the office that day - though, I was in a lot of meetings that morning. So, I still would have missed it.
What did you say at Google?
Since diagnosis and acceptance of the fact I definitely have some level of ADHD, I have excuses now for my actions. But that is exactly how it feels now. An excuse rather than a cognitive condition. It feels often like I am just making excuses rather than finding work around or deciding that is not for me because of x, y, or z. So glad you have done what you have so far, not only did you help yourself, you created a platform for others to discover hope. And now you are taking that and running with it!
Thanks! And you’re definitely not alone in feeling like it’s an “excuse”… it’s so hard when there’s nothing obvious/visible to point to. I am short, I know I’m short, no one would accuse me of me using the “excuse” that I’m short when I explain that I can’t reach a tall shelf (at least, not without a stepstool!). It’s harder with conditions/limitations you can’t “see.”
That is so insanely cool! Hope it was tons of fun
It really was! And now on my way to NeuroDiversion to speak there 🤓 on ADHD & Creativity!
I always feel like l’m being a Debbie Downer, but Google is not a true ally to the neurodivergent community. Specifically, they’ve been collaborating with the hate group Autism Speaks on their MSSNG genetic-analysis project for over a decade. While they insist its purpose isn’t to develop a cure or prenatal test for autism, that very much is its purpose. If you’re a software engineer or content creator, Google loves you because you make them money. If you’re not making them money, they see you as a problem in need of solving.
Maybe there's a slight possibility for change? Maybe if they realise this is eugenics they will break it off. I don't see it as likely though
How can I cancel my membership
If you're on a mobile device, when you go to the How to ADHD profile there are three dots in the top right corner. Tap those then "my membership" and then "edit membership" on the page that opens. I'm pretty sure it's there
My mom always used to recommend your videos to me, and I am glad I began watching your videos, even though some of the thumbnails slogans made me confused or it was very bright blue colour, slowly I got used to your content style and I’ve become a Patreon subscriber and glad I’ve stuck around and that my mom reccomended your videos to me when I first began wanting to learn about my adhd diagnosis
Thank you so much I am very glad you’re here! Is there anything that would make our thumbnails work better for you?
