I don't know what the connection is, but so many linguists are into fibre arts, especially knitting...I've tried it a few times but it's never really stuck for me!
Love this topic!
I know it's a little late to recommend activities, but I would really urge you to take a look at blacksmithing. Not only is it a lot of fun, very cool, leavrs you with neat stuff and you get to play in the fire, but I know a LOT of smiths. The craft is one gigantic ADHD support group. Every blow of the hammer or pass of the file gives you that little dose of neurotransmitters. When you fall into a rhythm you can stay in the hyper focus happy place. There is no shame in messing up, so instead of getting frustrated you just toss stuff in the scrap heap/recycle bin. And it's full of People Like Us who are eager to socialize, dharing knowledge and enthusiasm then go back to our own shops which are as organized or chaotic as we want. It is also great for the autistic, the OCD, and the dyslexic. The Increased ability to do 3D visualization and volume estimation that often presents with dyslexia is a superpower.
Not too late at all! Always looking for more suggestions to add to the hobby bowl ☺️
