5 Lies I Believed About Productivity (As Someone With ADHD)
Being productive with ADHD. A lot of typical "truths" or advice around productivity often make us feel like WE'RE the problem when they don't work out for us... but what if these "truths" aren't really "truths" for us at all? But if some of these are lies... then what is the actual truth of the matter? In this video... I'll share the lies I believed about productivity... and what I believe now!

I think the best cover for this video is at 8:33, I always gravitate to the softer video thumbnails cause I watch these videos when I’m tired or need a little supportive direction. And having softer thumbnails is good, cause the three concepts aren’t to be ‘written off’ but are moreso— nuanced, as is needed to know and you’ve covered so peacefully
Thank you for your presence over the years, I’ve watched you for years! This is my favourite video so far, I love the soft lighting and warm colours in this one
Love it
Was pointing to an empty space for “this video” a meta add joke? Nice.
Tis not. I need to see if the video cards accidentally got wiped.
I believed, at least a little, that I „need a (metaphorical) kick in the butt to get started“. My mom used to say this to me as a kid and teen, and of course it was true-ish from her point of view. However, attention, being told she believed I could do it, and validation after I was done were actually what worked about it. That’s why anybody, including myself, giving me a „kick in the butt to get started“ does actually NOT work, and I keep stumbling when I use it as a tactic on myself (bc I forget that I know it doesn’t work).
I love this video. Watching you chunk the puzzle pieces while you talked was soothing too, in addition to the jazz & Hygge vibe! 🥰 I loved the points you shared: Very comforting & reassuring. It’s challenging to convince team members or others about our good brain days & bad brain days. I’ve worked hard to remember to check in at the end of every day to help stay on top of expectations & potential concerns. Would love to learn what you’ve found to be effective ways to do this.
Communication of needs and accommodations and some educating on what ADHD is what I see often in the community as what helps with that buuuuut there is always that caveat that we can’t make people understand or believe what we are saying is true. Some people may come around with some education or communication but not everyone will. Which is unfortunate. So hopefully some of them are willing to listen and learn!
I'm digging the smoooooth jazz. It helped make this a very cozy and comforting video to watch, like a vaccination against trying to be neurotypically productive.
