Progress Report - 09/28/2026
I'm going to release Avalon's first three chapters instead of the first four. This is a more ambitious endeavor than I anticipated. I want to show off what I'm working on so you all know exactly what you're supporting. Expect this to drop next month after Riam has time to put it all together. I've put a lot on his plate recently.
I played through Chapter One of Quean Bee. There is a lot of scenes I adore in that first chapter, but there's also quite a bit that feels wrong. Now that I have a better idea of who Bobbie and Galatea are, I believe I need to go back to the drawing board. That means treating the original first chapter as a rough draft or concept art. I'm going to spend time re-imagining Quean Bee. When I have a solid idea, I'll present it to you.
So far, I believe Bee should be more charismatic and confident which means reinventing her backstory. Galatea needs to be playful and theatrical but sound less like an edgy teenager. I also want to experiment with more mechanics within the game to make it feel more engaging.

As much as I'm looking forward to the Avalon remaster I'm even more exited to see what you are going to do with Quean Bee. The work you are doing with Avalon is honing your skills for QB and future projects. It's a win-win scenario in my book.
Having done an entire chapter gave me a good feel for what I actually want from the characters. Doing a second pass and giving all the characters a bit more depth and character is going to elevate the project a lot. Riam is looking for a challenge anyway so this gives him the opportunity to try a lot of new mechanics to take the experience to the next level. It should be exceptional. I'm hyped!

Avalon sounds like it will be a great remaster, I'm looking forward to it. As for Bee, I the back story and what she she was wanting to do with the main guy, but something wanted me to see her have a thing with Galatea kind of like Bliss and Nixie. The can be both friends and lovers. You did it right with The Rose Garden. So a rework to change some things would mean people have to restart and play over. How will we manage.
The plan was always to involve Galatea in Bobbie's shenanigans. She'll definitely be a love interest. I think I'll make the VN much more alive. Moving backgrounds, lights, sound effects. I'm thinking bigger.
1st 3 vs 1st 4 = better! I'd even take the 1st TWO today - I'm sure it will be Grand. And yes, please give Bee a less trashy origin....
Being on the testing team, you get to see a lot of iterations. This is basically honing the finished article. All I know is, if you enjoy what you produce, I will too. Do what you need to make this another Lockheart banger!
There's nothing wrong with a reinvention. Sometimes we put things together and then look at them down the road and they just don't fit. Keep doing what you are doing. I'm sure that Quean Bee will be great!
