Evil Petal - Voodoo Vixen!
We're going to make A Petal Among Thorns free for everyone. Anyone that wants it can download it at no charge moving forward. We can't monetize it anyway, so we might as well put it out as a sort of demo for what people can expect from our works.
The fun part is that we're going to release it for free on itch. They allow me to post games there, I'm just not allowed to make any money off of them. You're welcome to try to work out that twisted logic. I surely cannot.
Important: I'm hemorrhaging money. That's why I reached out to itch. If they're not willing to let me back on their platform, I've got to take other steps to try to recoup some money here. It's going to take about a week but I'm going to start working on figuring out ways to sell my current stories. There won't be a progress report next week as I'm going to be trying to secure a future for my games.
We're not in panic mode yet. I've got money in savings, and hopefully making Petal free will encourage more people to join the Patreon or SubscribeStar. You all are the reason this company still exists at all, and I so sincerely appreciate all of you. Thank you, thank you!
But, yes, I am going to be considered a villain in this industry. I've done something so egregious that I can never be forgiven. So join me, my degenerate devils! We shall rain down evil smut upon this market, and give the proverbial finger to the self-righteous hobgoblins that would keep us down!

I wish I could up my membership, but I don't have the finances right now...the family saga has me absolutely hooked. At first it was mostly wanting a threesome with Petal and Bliss, but now the transhumanism plot has me hooked just as much as the sex. And Nixie.

I've tried to catch up and understand, would somebody mind clarifying for me. I know A Petal Among Thorns got demonetized (ridiculous). And I know A Moment of Bliss was the sequel (which I can't find on here anymore). I haven't played Over the Moon, is it a continuation of the other 2? Are the OG characters still in it or were they removed due to the demonetization? Anyways, hope all is well, sorry to hear you've been dealing with challenging times

I saw your post about losing money. After being a fan for a while, I joined your 25 dollar tier. Have you ever considered doing some cross-promotion with other creators to build hype or investment for your games. I could provide some links in the future if you are interested. I am also really looking forward to your Queen Bee game.
I appreciate the support, Sean. That's a hefty and kind donation. I didn't mean to imply so bluntly that I'm having financial troubles. I just meant that I needed to take some time to figure out my options and start setting up for the future. I'm trying to get A Moment of Bliss on Steam, and I'm probably going to start selling The Judas Ghost where I can. I don't know. I think everything is going to be fine. I'm not going to be making enough to grow the company for a while, but I'm pretty sure I'm doing well enough to survive. As long as things hold steady. If I lost Patreon, it's... it's probably over for me. Fingers crossed!

Eek. Sorry Petal/you are in such a dark spot. ...but I understand. I have understanding friends, but this is the one thing I think they'd never get over if I ever told them. So it stays in a tiny corner of my mind with heavy locks on it. It sucks. Trying to walk the line between decency and impulses. And for Itch's part, there's the litigious aspect of course. It blows. You have my sympathy and continued support. You helped me kind of be slightly more ok with myself. ...a little. Heh.

As the old adage goes, "Plan for the best, prepare for the worst." I've dropped a few developers because all I got was reports but NO content updates. From what I can tell, the average update/release is between 4-6 months for 3 or 4 hours of new content. It's good to see that your team keeps new material coming at a reasonable rate so, this old guy ain't goin' nowhere. Plus, I really enjoy your product. Hang in there Lockheart, it will ALL work out. Oh, and fuck the sanctimonious assholes that THINK they hold the moral ground. I'd love to be able to hear their thoughts. Probably not so pure.
Corporations don't give a damn about kids. Coca-Cola pays schools to have vending machines put into their cafeterias so they can get kids hooked on soda early, which is a significant contributor to American child obesity rates. If people really gave a damn about children, they'd go after the real criminals like these CEOs that approve putting that much sugar in twelve ounce cans. People just want someone to hate. Valve was very clear a long time ago that they no longer intended to police the content on their platform and I have certainly seen and played some ultra-skeevy games on Steam. Examples have been made that they will step in if something is truly just begging to be dealt with, but it seems that anything that is relevant to your games is already present somewhere in other games that they are allowing. Is there a reason you aren't on Steam?
Steam only bans for one thing; underage content. My games have no underage content. I gave the player the option to change Petal's age in the original build, and everyone assumed the absolute worst. She's always been represented as an adult, both physically and mentally. But it doesn't matter. Because I had that age variable, I'm now considered by platforms, other developers, and forums to be a problem. I have been condemned without the possibility of redemption no matter what I do.
Doubled my membership from $5 to $10 a month. I know it's more of a drop in the bucket for you but it's what I can do right now. If more folks jumped in it will add up. Wishing you all the best!!

No, the market is stagnating a bit. So I've actually been pretty steady considering most people are losing subs more than gaining. But I have expenses now that I didn't have before, like a coder and a house payment. I never thought I'd be taking steps backwards. Did not account for that.
