Project B

I owe you all an apology for last week's Progress Report. I was upset with myself for not having more done in regards to Over the Moon. I don't know what is going to happen in the future with my Patreon, but I'm going to act as though it's not going to be shut down. That means I have to have another project started before Over the Moon ends.

The way this works is most people will drop support if there's no reason to hang around. If my main project finishes, and there's nothing else to look forward to just yet, there's a significant drop in support. I can't afford that drop with no other forms of revenue income.

So, I've been putting in a lot of work into Project B. The picture above is our protagonist Bobbie. I know female protagonists aren't popular in this market, generally speaking. However, there is only going to be one male love interest, and Bobbie is going to seduce and bring women to him. From my understanding, it'll be what's known as Cuckqueaning. I'm confident if you give it a chance, it will pique your interest. Even if this isn't something you're into, it very well might be after you play Project B.

There are going to be a lot of surprises in the first release for anyone who's played my previous works. I don't want to reveal too much, but I will say that it's in the same universe as Avalon and The Rose Garden trilogy.

Over the Moon is still in production. We will see a conclusion to this story. However, I just need a little break from it. I've been working on this series for three years now, and I need to shake things up. Project B has been taking up a lot of space in my head. I can't seem to stop thinking about it. So I need to put a little time into that.

I'm still going to work on OtM, I'm not walking away from it for any period of time. I might just focus a little more time on other things for a few weeks while I clear my head. It's a sort of vacation. I need to spend a bit of time on other things so that I can recharge my Rose Garden batteries.

This means that I'll probably have a short preview of Project B in the next release of OtM so you guys can try it, tell me what you think, and give me feedback.

I want to hear from you guys though. How do you all feel about this? Have I been too much of a drama queen lately? #tempertantrum

You guys are awesome, and I appreciate all of you. The positive comments I got on last week's progress report perked me right up. I want to thank everyone who commented. It meant a lot to me.

TL;DR Sorry about my bitchfest last week. Project B will be my next game after Over the Moon, and there should be a preview for it in the next release of OtM. The picture above showcases the main protagonist Bobbie. The story will feature the flavor of Cuckqueaning.

I don´t even know if you will ever read this, since i am a new patron, but i want to share my first impression at the very beginning. You wanted feedback, so here you have one: I assume that the reader, aka us, wants to play as the MMC (Carter) Don´t do that, let the player decide the name for him, believe me this is more important then you think.

Will do. I'm going to add that option to the game when I do a proper build due to fan request. 👍

Very late to the party, but catching up on old mails. just wanted to say, I'd love a game with a female protagonist. Not sure sure about the Cuckqueaning thing, but you wrote my favorite character Penny, so I'll trust you to make it interesting.

Looking forward to this

Only request… for proj b, don’t make the mc some Chad or chisel faced old f**ker… go for a normal average 20-30yo guy… or maybe keep him faceless, though that would be hard to do if the protag is the female. Sick to death of male doms looking like something from a bad 70s B horror flick.

I mean, he's going to be handsome. What kind of look were you thinking?

BIZJOHN · May 14, 2024

Lockheart firstly, as others have said? all the crap that you have had to go through is going to mess with your head, and venting is much better than internalizing it. I will support you til the end. I know a few developers have started migrating to subscribestar if all else fails that could be an alternative. I followed a couple of developers there so if you take that option i will see you there to continue my support. Hope you keep your head up if they take your joy they win my friend

I have a SubscribeStar. I'm just not sure how far the witch hunt is going to spread. We all thought itch.io would be safe, and then it got hit. Nowhere is safe. I sure appreciate your support though. Maybe things will finally start going right for me. I've had some hurdles, and now I'm over those humps. If Patreon holds, and maybe if I find some creative solutions to problems, I can potentially bounce back. thank you, BIZJOHN. I'm going to do my best to stay positive and complain less. Gotta move forward!

Wasn't Judas Ghost supposed to be your next project?

L
Lockheart · May 14, 2024

It was supposed to be, but in preparation for this company to fail, I off-loaded The Judas Ghost to a different company so hopefully, it can live on. However, as long as my Patreon holds, I'll keep making games under Keys to My Lockheart. I don't know what to do, Sonkhawk. This censorship witch hunt is killing this market. I'm just trying to keep my head above water. I don't know what tactics are going to work, or if everything I try is going to be futile. I'll keep making games as long as I can. If the Powers the Be really want to shut me down though, there's nothing any of us can do about it. As it stands, they're trying their best to purge the internet of us. It's a slow creep, but they've successfully hurt a lot of developers so far.

You're very welcome and I understand completely and yes, it is. Same here.

Thanks for the update and the new project sounds interesting. I plan on supporting your works as long as I'm able. I've enjoyed talking to you on Discord sometimes and I understand the need to vent, I do it a lot too sometimes so don't feel bad. Have a good day. :)

L
Lockheart · May 14, 2024

Thank you, Gregory. I've been venting a little too much lately. Time to start looking forward. I look forward to seeing you around Discord!

Lockheart, as I've said often enough in the past, I support the developers I do because I like them as people first, and getting games of high quality is important but not even a close second. I'll stick with you through thick and thin, hoping that things will work out well for you. Don't worry about any ranting you might do, it's understandable considering all that you've had to go through.

L
Lockheart · May 14, 2024

I appreciate that, dpas. There's definitely some great content on the way. It just might be hindered by too much in the pipeline. I bit off more than I could chew, but it was a necessary chomp. Thank you, dpas!

Frankly, after all the bullshit you've been through, I'd say you're well within your right to almost any number of venting posts. Getting screwed for arbitrary reasons completely outside of your control has to be...I can't even find the right word to express the level of horrible I'm imagining. I'm glad to hear OtM will have a conclusion, but if you need a break from it, I'm glad you have Project B as an outlet or "vacation" as you put it. I don't mind a female lead, but not sure how I feel on "cuckqueaning" but I'll certainly give it a try when you have a demo. It legit sounds similar to how Becca is the "bottom bitch" or whatever the weird description she uses was from Single Again. Basically a female wingman? In any case, I'm rooting for ya Lockheart, and I'll do my best to be here for the long haul!

Further addendum (as if I didn't write enough in my first post LMAO) I'll do a little venting of my own: I'm pretty frustrated with ALL of my other favorite AVNs/devs because they can't seem to do the one SIMPLE thing you typically knock out of the park: Dev posts on a specific cadence that's not ridiculous. I don't care if it's a one sentence blurb, or a lengthy post detailing difficult parts in the rendering process. SHARE SOMETHING while we're waiting. I don't want to name drop, cuz that's a dick move, but I respect and love the work of several other creators and I'm willing to wait. But it's very nerve wracking and anxiety inducing when you wait 2+ weeks from seeing an estimate to getting any news at all. Rants aside, I think you've only forgotten your cadence a few times, but typically stick to a schedule I can look forward to seeing, no matter the details. Thanks for keeping transparent, it certainly keeps me happy and more willing to wait! 😊

Project B sounds interesting, reminds me of another popular game that one of the females helps the MC get women. The issue I find frequently with female MC's is they end up just being corrupted, blackmailed and used by every male and some females. Females can be strong and submissive to one person.

L
Lockheart · May 13, 2024

Bobbie will have a hero's journey where she becomes mighty and formidable throughout the story. What popular game does Project B remind you of?

Bofhorg · May 13, 2024

not sure about others, but I'm quite happy with the amount of content you've made. I've always seen being a patreon as a supporter for the creative process, not the final product. If I want a finished product, I'll go to a shop/steam/whatever. Being a patreon has in my opinion much more to do with the supporting the developer doing his/her thing (wherever it'll take us...) than with the product

L
Lockheart · May 13, 2024

That's a wonderful way to look at it. I'm definitely always cooking something, but I have been known to jump around a bit lately. My goal is to always be working on a project I'm confident my fans will adore. In that endeavor, I do believe I'm succeeding. Thank you, Bofhorg.
