You know, these types of actions from characters have always made me cringe (appropriately). I get Elias is worried and and want to help, but he knows this is a sanctioned match with rules and an apparent referee. There is protocol and tradition behind this and, much like any contact/combat sport (wresting, etc.), there is some accepted risk. However, he has been displayed to be smart enough to know that all of this is in play and his dragon partner is most likely capable of handling dragon fire from somebody she is familiar with. This is less of an act of heroism and more of a display of doubt towards Flares ability (which she specified stated she has spent significant time working on). Honestly if Flare stopped the match to just scold Elias, it would be justified. He needs to learn to trust and to be patient. He's shown he knows how to solve problems, but he just demonstrated he doesn't know how to react to problems in real time. TLDR: Elias just fucked up an displayed a major character flaw and I want to see both his partner and her culture educate him, without disadvantages Flare too much (The smart, but dumb human is excusable, but we have tradition to follow lol)

I think Burn will be confused at first as to why Flare suddenly wants him dead since at this point it's obvious he's among the dragons who see humans as an inferior species as he didn't care at all about the defenseless human who would be killed by his raw power "performance".

Flare will probably try going straight for Burn's throat until she sees that Elias is alive and well after which she'll hug him. Then Burn will realize he was replaced by this human and be even more pissed than he already was, leading to a fight.

Good thing Elias prepared something to protect himself from being burned alive! Flare already hated burn before but now I think she'll want him DEAD!
