I think Elias is more disappointed about flare trying to lower his presence under pressure than idea that him being bummed about being only friend.
Elias has a record with being called either a pet or a mate to Flare every time he meets somebody new.
At least Vesper made a 180° turn when corrected. She's certainly going to be unintentionally funny, but hopefully intentionally funny.

You know, I feel bad for Elias. Bro is in such conflict. Half demon, friend zoned at the moment, feelings for flare. Now being called an inferior little human. I just hope that Flare will eventually realize how much he cares about her. I have a feeling it's not gonna be easy at the Crags.
Yikes. Now we know why Rage didn't belong at the Crags: he stayed with El and Prin. It "brought shame to the family" and stuck him in a literal shit job. Good guy, that Rage. Messy, but a good heart in him.
Ironic that it seems easier for Blaze to believe that humans and dragons are more likely to be mates than friends. Although I guess the only other examples we have so far are of them being mates or a “pet”
If you're a member of an interior race (species?), you're not good for anything other than to be *used*. https://dragonesssayssit.com/comic/strays/ If you're not strong enough for fighting, and not good enough for food, then you'd probably only used for mating, if at all.
I guess it's understandable that Blaze would think of humans as an inferior species considering the way she was raised by her father and it's unknown if she ever saw any other humans besides Rage's girlfriends.
It's easy to remain ignorant when your self worth depends on you not knowing.
