Being the Texas hillbilly that I am, I fare better with plugins in general if there are presets, which are useful to refer to, insofar as guiding one as to the optimum settings for given sources. I wish I were instinctually a producer/engineer, but I'm far from being that.

Hello, I'm having weird problem with Rare on Studio One 4. After 15 minutes or so, the plugin goes into something like a self-oscilation and it overloads the bus it is send to. I have to restart my session to get rid of it...

Hi, did you try lastest version?

VST3 Mac is not working for me. It seems rare.vst3 is not there. Refreshing doesent help. I use Ableton.

Thanks for feedback. Did you try other plugins? They are same? Also, your system is Catalina?

While I'm thinking of it, if you made the midrange counterpart of that Pultec sim, that would rock! But no biggie, in Reaper I've placed their generic EQ with your Pultec for midrange engoosement which really brought out the sound, since your Pultec injects such great mojo into a track already. Great stuff.

Yeah the MEQ-5 is a very good equalizer for certain tasks. Apart from the originals which go for silly money, the nicest I have had the pleasure of using doing tracking work in a few very well stocked places were the Thermionic Culture Pullet and the Lydkraft Tube-Tech ME1B with that lovely blue finish that they use. I can not afford to buy anything by Thermionic Culture or Tube-Tech for my home studio nor other gear by builders whose gear I love to use such as Retro Instruments, It's territory that is bordering on a pretty good mortgage downpayment, however for commercial studios which make enough money to invest in such quality gear at least I am able to book time when I require a really good sounding live space with an excellent selection of microphones and such lovely stuff racked up, ready to go via a patch bay in the control room. The gap is being closed by the quality developers that are doing their thing and I couldn't be more grateful to such people, I also was very much used to gain-staging before it was possible to work fully ITB, as I started with tape (which I don't miss at all) along with DAT and ADAT, again don't miss those either as editing was a lot less flexible, the medium was quite expensive, the gear took quite some time to maintain in order for it to deliver optimal results plus I honestly believe that the sound of analogue tape for most things is very overrated, I still have my old 8-track and 16-track machines in case there is any legitimate reason to track something onto tape but the results are swiftly piped into the box. The two things which will most often be a legitimate reason for tracking to tape are really bright cymbals and transistor/solid-state high-gain guitar amplifiers mic'd up, As they are capable of extremely tight, brutal and really heavy rhythm guitar and lead work also, The good ones track so precisely that I find them to layer really well with any all-valve high-gain amps in order to achieve a really chunky, modern metal mix, Sometimes though it is do-able using some of the tape-emulating options that are available. Cheers and all the best your way Brian and also to the quality coding plugin developer who is behind Analog Obsession, The recognition I believe is deserved.Dean, Manchester, NW England, UK

Waves are dirtbags. They freak out and ask 100 questions if you get a new PC. Analog Obsession, I returned here and downloaded over again, no issues. And your stuff is better, anyway. Whenever I talk gear and plugins with people, I mention and recommend AO.

Sorry to grave dig this thread, but it took almost a week of searching through plugins to finally come across AO and I wish more people knew of these plugins. This suite is gonna be my recommendation to anyone getting started looking for plugins. The quality is unreal and IMO has some of the best native software equivalents I have come across.
