Gofile News 2026-08-16

Hello everyone,

It is time for an update on everything happening across the Gofile ecosystem.
A lot has been moving behind the scenes: infrastructure upgrades, storage expansions, a brand-new website interface, hardware price surges, and ongoing DDoS mitigation.

Here is a full breakdown of where things stand.

- DDoS Attacks & Network Resilience

Let’s start with the challenges.
Over the past few months, Gofile has been targeted by frequent, massive DDoS attacks reaching several Tbps.
These scale of attacks are typically aimed at major internet enterprises.
While it is flattering in a way proving Gofile’s growing footprint we are still an independent, self-funded team without the bottomless resources of tech giants.
The initial waves caused a few brief service disruptions, but we have since deployed extensive mitigation measures.
Things are significantly more stable now, and we are continuously hardening our defenses.

- Hardware Market & Pricing Transparency

As many of you may know, the cost of storage and RAM has surged by 2x to 5x over recent years.
These are the core building blocks of Gofile.
A standard cold-storage server that cost us under $5,000 three years ago now runs closer to $10,000.
While this impacts our margins, we have kept our Premium pricing unchanged.
Profit is not our primary driver, our goal is long-term sustainability.
Because we still run a significant portion of our infrastructure on hardware purchased prior to the price spikes, we can absorb these costs for now.
However, if market prices remain elevated, a minor price adjustment may eventually become necessary down the road.

- Infrastructure & Global Points of Presence (PoPs)

To keep up with growing demand, we are actively expanding our network capacity and storage infrastructure.
Paris & Phoenix remain our two primary hubs, backed by trusted, long-term datacenter partners where we are heavily expanding capacity.
We are eager to scale our Singapore presence to better serve our growing Asian community. However, bandwidth and hardware in the region are substantially more expensive, and establishing the right partnerships takes time.
We are actively exploring cost-effective hosting options there.

- The New Web Interface

Earlier this week, we rolled out our newly redesigned web interface.
Admittedly, the initial release was bumpy.
We experimented with heavier graphical effects that led to noticeable performance drops and regressions.
We heard your feedback loud and clear: we immediately stripped out the unnecessary visual overhead and restored the fast, fluid navigation you expect, while retaining all the architectural improvements of the new system.
Why the complete rewrite?
The legacy interface had accumulated significant technical debt, making updates and new features difficult to maintain.
Building a fresh foundation from scratch was necessary.
Alongside the cleaner design, we have introduced several quality-of-life enhancements.
As of today, the vast majority of launch bugs have been resolved.
If you run into any remaining issues, please report them directly through our Contact Page.

- Desktop App Status

The desktop application remains high on our roadmap.
We have had a working internal build for a few months, but unexpected priorities and the web redesign delayed its rollout.
With the new web interface now live, our focus shifts back to the desktop client.
While we cannot provide a strict ETA just yet (as urgent infrastructure needs must always come first), Premium members will receive priority access for early beta testing once it is ready.
