Derry Girls 2x6 | Watch Along

In Minnesota our equivalent of the Farm Show is the State Fair. Millions of people go every year. No one asks you if you are going, they ask you what day you are going, and the first day of school is always the day after the State Fair ends.
Not me crying over Derry Girls, such a cute episode. The first Monday after Thanksgiving being off is something I remember so clearly lol, sadly we were too far east to get off for Farm Show Week where I grew up lol.
Favourite end moment of a season / series. An historic event is going on but reuniting with James is more important than being present during history. It really does hit hard for me !
As someone who grew up in the UK in this period (probably about the same age as the Derry Girls), the Troubles were just part of the background narrative. Not on our minds every day, like they were for people in Northern Ireland, but definitely in the news regularly. When it started to seem real that they could actually end, with the IRA ceasefire and ongoing negotiations at Stormont, and then Bill Clinton making a state visit, it was a momentous time. This show always gets me emotional about that time, and about how much it must have meant to the people who were experiencing the Troubles directly. Lisa McGee knows just how to tug on the heartstrings, tying the girls' adventures into that bigger picture.
I'm not crying, you're crying!
One of my favorite episodes. Michelle showing some emotion and being vulnerable when James is leaving makes me tear up. Growing up in Louisiana we always had catholic holidays like being off for Mardi Gras week and Good Friday. When I went out of state for college I was surprised those weren't considered holidays
I managed to get third row seats to see President Obama speak last week. Okay, the seats were waaaaay off to the side, so I didn't have a a decent view. Plus I wore the wrong glasses, so all I saw was a vague blur
Butter sculptures?!? (Sorry i live in australia im sure we have weird stuff too just not butter artwork. . Yet)
You guys have Raygun!!! omgggg
This is fascinating. The one time the girls show some genuine solidarity to each other, to James especially (made me cry a bit), and the one time they don't cause some form of unprecedented chaos, they still have to do it in a way where they act completely contrary to the rest of the town. And the beauty of the peace and Enya and the Irish landscape all on top of each other, that's pretty sweet.
