I did some cursory research on the piano guy.. basically it's what Arianna said, it's definitely a Glee reference. That show had a similar silent-but-pivatol role and was never really acknowledged (or maybe he was, i stopped watching Glee during s2), a semi-known composer named Brad Ellis. Finally getting to "Oh, Britta's in this?"

You're probably going to hear this 5 million times, but the Glee episode is a riff on Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The scene with Jeff singing at Britta while she screams is a beat for beat recreation of an iconic scene from the 70's version with Donald Sutherland. You guys should watch that during scary season, it's a good movie.

Funny you mentioned Pluribus in this episode: the Glee club person who stabbed himself with the fork is the same actor (Jeff Hiller) who played the guy in the biker outfit (Larry) who Carol talks to in her home about her writings (and other things) in Ep 4.
