I know its unlikely, but it'd be awesome to get 2 episodes a week since these are like 20 minutes long lol

Yeah I thought that too but there's not that many episodes, they probably want to savor it

Man it's hard to believe Claire is like 32ish in this season. They're all obviously at least 20, but Claire actually looks younger than the others a lot of the time.

I'm so curious how much they're going to understand of the Protestant/Catholic stuff. When I tell people I'm Irish, I qualify it by telling them there are still to this day members of my family who will not speak to other members of my family, just because they married a Protestant lol

Yah I kind of wish they'd watch even like a brief explanation on YT. They'd definitely appreciate it more.

It's a joy to watch you try to decipher our Northern Irishisms. And believe me, the fish and chips is NOT played for comedy, it is legit a tragedy. If I got banned from my local chippie, I would immediately set myself on fire outside of it.

Ah, Uncle Colm. It takes a while to realise, but his thing is telling incredibly interesting, exciting stories, in a manner that is so dull that you simply cannot listen. As an English person who spends a lot of time in Northern Ireland with my wife's family, this show is so accurate it practically hurts. Every little idiosyncrasy and quirk of Northern Irish culture is spot on. I don't know how much awareness you have of the Troubles, which were in their final days when this show is set, in the mid-90s, but I would recommend the miniseries, Say Nothing, as a possible follow up watch. It's a much darker look at life in Northern Ireland, and the impact that the Troubles had on people's lives.

Honestly, they'd probably find some of the humor even funnier if they'd watched Say Nothing before this, just because they'd have better context for everything, and they'd realize how dark some of the comedy is lol. The Troubles are so hard to explain to anyone who doesn't already have at least a basic understanding of the history between Britain and Ireland, I'm curious how much they're already aware of

I've watched a bit further ahead in the show and there's some pretty good bits but I think I've noticed that it's actually Erin and her actress who I like the least which is pretty unfortunate with her as the main character 😅 the actress just hams it up a bit too much, even for a comedy, and something about the combination of her voice and her facial expressions make her the least believable "teenager" out of all of them for me. I think in general, some of the adult side characters are the best. Sister Michael and the granddad are still great, and Uncle Colm is hilarious.
