I think it is worth bearing in mind that much of Otto's scheming was driven by self interest, but much of it was also an attempt to keep Daemon away from power and influence because he (justifiably) perceived him as a threat to the stability of the realm. Remember that it was actually Otto who pushed for Rhaenyra as heir to Viserys initially.
while true, it makes no difference. Otto is an opportunist through and through, starting with when he sent Alicent to cozy up to Viserys. Otto DID try to stop Daemon and suggested Rhaenyra, but because that was the best and only path forward at the time. Had there been a better opportunity for him in that moment he would have taken it, its just that opportunity did not come until much later. What you're suggesting comes with the implication that Otto backed Rhaenyra at the start in a genuine way.
I am SO intrigued to see what alys and aemond get up too. She’s either going to have him tripping balls like daemon last season or they are going to be a huge problem
The third strong boy is now heir to the throne. Jace and lucerys were heir to Corlys throne bc they were betrothed to his granddaughters baela and rhaena. Alyn and addam are now his heirs if legitimized he just doesn’t have his castle currently bc it was burned down.
people also forget the root of the problems were actually daemon and Otto said he would lose the people which they did and that's why Otto started truly conspiring as well as nasty as it is we do forget the starting point
I think the root of the problems were Viserys and Otto. Viserys was weak and Otto led him around by his nose. Otto fostered the schism between Viserys and Daemon (Daemon's biggest issue was that he was heir but he was never trusted to be the Hand), then Otto got Viserys to replace Daemon with Rhaneyra and then pimped out his own daughter (Alicent) so that she could bear him a son because he knew a female heir was an easier challenge than a male one.

Im team black but it is crazy how many people they essentially force to die for them and then we just skip over it like nothing happens lol daemon my goat but he the worst culprit of it
