Damn....hate hunter x hunter...but still will support.

J
JojoJack · July 6, 2026

I wanna chime in even though i’m late but if you plan to watch Hunter x Hunter on Netflix in Japanese with Eng Subs, you will not get the translated subtitles, instead the only eng subtitle option on Netflix is the English Dubbed transcript. If you gonna watch HxH on Netflix, I recommend watching it in the English Dubbed language

J
JojoJack · June 30, 2026

Just as long yall check for the post-credit scenes in this anime.

D
Diegesis · July 22, 2026

Okay are there certain episodes??

K
Kalraken · June 29, 2026

People that only watch dubs won't even watch the series but I feel like sub watchers will still watch dubbed

A
Anthony Scott · June 28, 2026

as a reaction Dub is going to be better for all paries involved.

S
SalmonWins · June 26, 2026

There are some anime where the dub is worth watching (Death Note comes to mind...the MEMES) but for HxH I would recommend the sub!! the acting is phenomenal.

N
Nick Modarressi · June 26, 2026

I’m not a sub purist, but this is one series I’d recommend it for. More modern anime has better dubbed voice acting, but older stuff like HunterXHunter they still weren’t putting as much effort into the dubs as they were the original, so I have to go sub all their way.

Z
ZitherManifesto · June 18, 2026

Is it me? Only seeing that the toxic comments are from the sub people? I would pick Dub just to piss them off. But girls watch however you want. I want dub, but it really doesn't matter.

C
Camden Marr · June 18, 2026

i would absolutely say sub but since you guys are only liking the comments saying dub i think you have an obvious preference lol. do whatever you think you will enjoy most. i personally believe the original is better for basically any show, but if you think reading subtitles takes away from the show for you then do what you want.

c
choom · June 18, 2026

Why even watch anime at that point. Dub is a grevious bastardization of the medium, it's bad enough that sub watchers have to deal with unreliable translations, dub just takes it an extra step.

b
bmp · June 18, 2026

This is what I'd say to any channel that requires your own copy anyways: Verify that the sub and dub translations are the same If so, then at that point you guys should just watch an episode or two in dub and then do the same in sub. Figure out which one you like more and pick At the end of the day, the one you pick will have absolutely no bearing on anyone else since people have to get their own copies anyways. They can pick their favorite sub/dub. Yes, sentences will not be constructed entirely the same way and some phrases will get slightly changed, but that can happen depending on which sub translation you get anyways. And these are minor changes that will not confuse anyone re-watching either way. Now if you're asking because of the early access Youtube videos, really the only shows I know could possibly win a public poll for a dub would be Yu Yu Hakusho and Cowboy Bepop. Otherwise get used to subs almost always winning polls anyways.

David Jevón · June 17, 2026

Dubstep baby. Original Japanese audio is fucking awesome, but you end up reading instead of watching.

S
Spiff · June 17, 2026

Everyone saying subs all fall under the same irrelevant stance: weeb needs original or it's shit. If you don't understand fluent Japanese then you're spending the whole show reading & missing background info, specific references. Dub is the only way for reactions, saying otherwise is ridiculous self aggrandizing b.s.

A
Animeadam · June 17, 2026

Sub is way better then dub

c
choom · June 17, 2026

This is huge, greatest shounen of all time, please for the love of god, do NOT watch this dubbed. Cowboy Bebop was an exception, because it has a great dub, but that is not the case with HxH and pretty much most anime.

r
romai · June 17, 2026

Hunter x Hunter is great for Sub. The acting part is what's key here in the Sub. Is there a site or google form to make suggestions for future anime?

D
Diegesis · June 17, 2026

Thank you! We have a suggestion chat for our paid patrons that we sift through!

Z
Zuhl · June 17, 2026

hunter x hunter is awesome and I am not a kid. It revolves around kids but it is way better than some anime that takes itself way to seriously for "adults". Beserk maybe but what else is there that doesn't get soo boring.

r
romai · June 17, 2026

Vinland Saga is great!

U
URxBREATHTAKING · June 17, 2026

i wish reactors would watch more adult anime, hunter is for kids

r
romai · June 17, 2026

What is a more adult anime? I'm not sure if this is rage bait... lol

M
Mitch · June 17, 2026

Subs the V.As are worth it trust not a big fan of the dub va but I think just go with the majority you can’t make everyone happy.

C
Cyber · June 17, 2026

i dont care as much for this, but demon slayer probably would be better in subs, especially season 2 onwards... the dub, while acceptable, is not BAD.. but it just.. isn't hitting emotionally, it feels flat... like someone phoned it in while on the porcelin bench, on an airplane, topped off on prozac.

I
Imran Sandhu · June 17, 2026

Honestly some of these mainstream anime have phenomenal English dubs, so not against english dub for HunterxHunter. That being said, anime characters are written with Japanese narrative intent, so english voice actors have trouble mimicking japanese mannerisms that are integral to a character's identity/dialogue flow between characters. So there is a tradeoff, you're not getting the "real experience" of what the anime was going for (something most people are arguing against in the comments). The counter argument; if english dub viewing experience was the same as sub, then anime would be classified as cartoons, not as their own genre. The term, anime, is animated content which is created, produced, and published as authentic japanese media. To use a film example: imagine watching Sinners dubbed in japanese. The story would still be there, and it could still be a great viewing experience, but some of the nuances in the performances, dialogue delivery, and cultural context tied to the characters would inevitably be different. Part of what makes certain performances so impactful is how they're expressed in their original form ex. the singing, southern accents, irish accent... P.S. I think you guys should give Demon Slayer in sub a try; it was one of the largest and succesful anime productions in Japan, and the sub voice actors are unreal. The VA for some of the characters like Hashira Rengoku, add so much depth to the story, for me personally. Not trying to annoy yall

b
bmp · June 18, 2026

lol and how exactly are people going to pick up on these mannerisms when they don't speak the language and it gets translated into English anyways? Anime is not the real experience to begin with. The manga in Japanese is the real experience. I mean you said it yourself. Anything else is an interpretation, whether it's the anime with Japanese VAs or English VAs.

L
LazyBoy Stays Up Late Watchin Video Tapes · June 17, 2026

For them it's the first time watching and for us it is not. For English speakers, foreign film with subtitles is often watched multiple times for full enjoyment, with the initial instance given to concentrate on the written subtitles. Later, rewatches are for focusing on the actors themselves, or in this case, the art. Also, I fail to see how they're watching it in English has any affect on me watching along in a foreign language on my own copy.

a
ash · June 16, 2026

Everyone told me Attack on titan in Japanese was better but having experienced both as a native English speaker the speeches and hard hitting moments are much better in English. That's how this show will be too. Don't get peer pressured into watching Japanese because that's the cool thing to do. Reactions will probably be better if the material hits you harder whatever format that is for you.

Tim F · June 16, 2026

Something to consider is if people who prefer one will even engage with the other. They can prefer subbed, but its my guess that they'll still watch if you do dubbed. Doing a subbed watch is a completely different activity and my non-existent attention span means I never just sit and watch something anymore, it's on while I'm doing something else. That's just me though, I almost certainly won't watch anything subbed, but there'll always be something else in the schedule coming up to watch instead.

b
blitzman08 · June 16, 2026

The answer is always Sub. No shade to Dub, there are some exceptions but it almost never holds a candle to the subbed version.

a
askle · June 16, 2026

most people here seem to be talking about ur uncut reactions when requesting dub but a vast majority of youtube audiences prefer sub

L
LazyBoy Stays Up Late Watchin Video Tapes · June 17, 2026

They might want to have YT audience decide then if this is the case. Since they're asking on here, I just assumed they were polling the watch along audience.

Z

Dub, makes better to watch reaction. Having you all focus on reading in Attack On Titan you missed some key points that you all keep questioning.

c
chris watt · June 16, 2026

i love the original but i find it hard to react with subs. ill watch either way, but if its subbed i have to make that full screen and have you guys not even on there

P
PhantomOfDelphi · June 16, 2026

Original audio is going to win because of weeb purity culture, but I greatly appreciate dub reactions when I see them because they are so rare.

D
Dustin · June 16, 2026

This one in sub for sure. The dub is good, don't get me wrong but I feel like this one in particular should be done in sub for the theatrics of it all

E
ElToroNica · June 16, 2026

Hope you do the dub, a friend of mine lends his voice to one of the main characters!

R
Robbin The Hood · June 16, 2026

The Japanese voice acting is top-tier for HxH. Some scenes and specific character’s voices are iconic. I’ve watched another reactor do the whole series dub and I can say at least for me, it is a big step down in quality of VA. At least with Frieren the drop down in quality isn’t very big. Also HxH isn’t a difficult anime to follow along with. The animation is beautiful but it’s not super busy where you would be missing anything while reading along.

M
Matilda Beekay · June 16, 2026

Personally I don't mind either, but I think unless it's a famously mediocre or awful dub, you're better off just sticking to English - it's easier for y'all, it's easier for us. You're always going to get comments about how certain line deliveries or translations aren't as good as the subtitles, no matter the series honestly. This is a really long one too, possibly the longest series you've done on the channel(?) so I think you should take your own comfort into consideration too.

D
Dross · June 16, 2026

Yes they do

F
Francesca Dizon · June 16, 2026

I was originally going to say sub, but then the little preview on the video will be hard to follow along with the little sub text. Dub works - my favorite anime!

C
Casey · June 16, 2026

I'll always prefer dub it helps both you and me pay more attention to it without missing anything.

C
Chris Bruneau · June 16, 2026

I'm curious why most people want the Japanese version?

Q
Quzga · June 16, 2026

English isn't my first language and subs helped me become fluent as a child. And I think dubs take away the vision the creators put a lot of thought into and even if you don't speak the language you still understand the acting and emotion behind what they're saying. They choose the specific voice actors for a reason, subtitles imo don't take away from the performance and writing but dub does. Good subtitles also retain more of the culture and context instead anglicizing it all. If you've ever watched a dub vs sub you'll know what I mean, especially in Japanese sources with honorifics and other things that they skip over in dub or try to convert to an English version. I've watched foreign film and TV with subs my whole life, even learned Korean to a degree from it so I also appreciate it as a way to learn other languages. Most people in the world who aren't native English speaker use subs and are used to it as well so we don't see a downside to it. Thats my own subjective reasoning why I prefer sub but whatever the majority wants should be what they go for, def matters more than my own opinion. With frieren I just synced my Japanese version with their reaction so I had no issue enjoying it regardless and will do that if they go for dub 🫡

J
JAMES D'ALESSANDRO · June 16, 2026

If you only watched Frieren in sub.

A
Alex Aguilera · June 16, 2026

There's no point in commenting since we all know anime nerds are going to overwhelmingly vote for subs

W
Woz Lee · June 16, 2026

Japanese. Dub literally sounds like a childrens cartoon, and becomes really jarring when the tone eventually shifts.

J
Jon Clarke · June 16, 2026

The japanese voice acting is, later on, some of the best i have ever heard.

c
choom · June 17, 2026

If they do dub, they are going to miss out on Megumi Hans performance of a lifetime in ep 116

C
Conner Simpkins · June 16, 2026

For the purpose of reactions I would go with Dub. Hunter x Hunter is very wordy and has a complex power system. It'll be easier on Maple and Arianna if they watch the show in English.

C
Courage · June 16, 2026

The only time a dub was better than sub is dragon ball Z. Every other time multiple characters sound exaggerated and off. It doesn't translate well usually though there are some decentish dubs out there

y
ybriK · June 16, 2026

Hxh is my favourite anime, the dub doesn’t really do it for me though

J
Jaylennn · June 16, 2026

Do dub for this and sub for demon slayer

C
Cohlton · June 16, 2026

I have no idea as I've never seen the show. I just know I want 4 episodes of community a week

Q
Quzga · June 16, 2026

You're streets ahead my man

F
Felix Moran · June 16, 2026

Please do dub as reactors, it’s easier for me to follow along with you guys and maybe for you guys too. Just seen a video from a reactor that only does sub talking about how she had to go back and rewatch the episode(in dub) to make sure she didn’t miss anything

c
choom · June 17, 2026

Nothing ruins a reaction more than tuning in to find they are watching the dub. Dub is only acceptable when it is notably better than the sub (like cowboy bebop), and in this case, it is absolutely not.

S
SabotheHunter · June 16, 2026

Yessss Hunter X Hunter my favourite anime ever!!!

Q
Quzga · June 16, 2026

For the love of God, sub! I think all media should be consumed the way it was meant to. (unless you can't read or something ofc). Dubs imo kinda take a crap on the creators vision. Altough with freiren I synced the Japanese version with your full length and found that more enjoyable so even if you go with dub, not a big deal for me. Also Journal with witch is the best anime I've seen in years, amazing writing. If you guys feel like being emotional 😅

b
bmp · June 16, 2026

"the way it was meant to" so do we all need to learn Japanese? Because the HxH dub does not deviate from the sub translation much, if at all. In fact, they actually accommodate the phrases to make more sense for English speakers. Just never understood this take. I get it if you enjoy listening to Japanese VAs, and I understand some dubs straight up change this (for better or worse, YYH dub is 10x better than the original), but you are not "consuming it the way it was meant" because you're still reading a translation of the work. You wanna consume it the way it was meant to, you need to buy the manga and learn Japanese. You like the sub, just say that. This purism stuff is nonsense

D
DYLAN · June 16, 2026

I mean i will always say the japanese dub is better in an anime but HxH has a pretty good dub so i guess if it wins i will be ok with itbecause it will at least be watchable lol

E
Endeedee · June 16, 2026

Dub! It's hard to read while watching scenes and looking at reactions. It needs my constant attention, and considering that we have to display a separate video of the actual show, and watch out for timing miscues or the occasional drop in buffering that causes a pause, etc. I'm just really not into it. But hey, it's just one person's opinion.

D
Duece Duece Revolution · June 16, 2026

You make a valid point

M
MeetMountain · June 16, 2026

People like to have you on while they are doing things.. if they have to read the screen, it’s probably that they just won’t engage in the content. There are also many people who have reading/eyesight impairments.

D
DYLAN · June 16, 2026

but also most people who watch those reactions would have watched the show before so like ... even if not 100% focused on the episode it's fine lol

B
Bruce Ripple · June 16, 2026

This is a conundrum… I’ve found with a captivating or engaging “foreign” film, you forget all about reading the dialogue. Your brain hears their real voice, and you just plug in the words you’re reading. If it’s a boring/crappy foreign film, reading those subtitles feels like friggin’ WORK, y’know?

☆
☆Cam☆ · June 16, 2026

Good thing I love to read. Sub all the way!!
