What an interesting episode with these flashbacks and plot points interweaving

The funny thing is Pussy's FBI handler says near the beginning of the season that he was working for them since 1998. The flashbacks this episode take place in 1995. So it's very likely they are just remembering things like that because of their suspicion in hindsight.

Jersey native here, that beach Maple is referring to is a town called Asbury Park. Its heyday was back in the 50s and 60s, a lot of family vacationed down there. Then it hit a rough patch during the 90s and early 2000s(when the Sopranos filmed down there) and started to get revitalized around 2010. It’s WILD to see what it looked like 20ish years ago to because it’s SO much better. That side of the boardwalk we see Tony on is still there but all those buildings behind him are all restaurants and bars now. Even during the winter there’s people on the boardwalk. How you see it in the show is really how it looked back then, it was a ghost town outside of the summer

Every time Jackie Jr. is caught by Tony in a compromising location, his go-to excuse is that he got dragged there for a bachelor party lol. I love how this season focuses on the next generation. You can see how the Sopranos kids' privileged existence makes them different than Tony and Carmela, and you can also see what separates Jackie Jr. from these mob guys he's so desperate to emulate. Previous episodes have shown Rosalie spoiling him, but the flashbacks in this episode show how Jackie Sr. shaped this kid as well (proclaiming Jackie Jr. a genius because he knows the capital of Canada).

I think Jackie Jr is a great example of what crappy rolemodels can do to a person. He's clearly kind and good at heart, yet even his good role models are mobsters, so off course he ends up being pulled in that direction

Jackie Jr. is an amazing contradiction. I think he'd actually be a pretty good criminal if he just had even 5% more common sense.
