I love this episode. The different statements it makes about men and women and their relationships are great. I especially love that small monologue by Daphne where she says that men are too competitive to ever really be friends, and we know that she has a point with that, we've seen that dynamic with Cameron and Ethan, but then it cuts to those two just having some genuine dumb fun on the jet skis and in that moment, it feels more honest of a friendship than someone as manipulative as Daphne—or someone as guarded as Harper, for that matter—would ever be capable of having ^^ But also, Cameron is hilarious, he's so over the top xD I can't figure out Ethan though. He's kind of annoying me. With Cameron, what you see is what you get. We know it, Daphne knows it, he's not complicated. But Ethan, what is his deal? Does he even like Harper? He's just so weirdly passive. It feels like the only reason he doesn't give in and sleep with Mia is to protect his own self-image of someone who wouldn't do that, like in his mind, he's the monogamous good guy, whether he actually likes and is attracted by his wife or not. He's kind of an older version of Albie in that way. I am starting to get slighty annoyed by Portia too though. She needs to make up her mind. Albie can't read a moment to save his life and it's cringe-worthy to watch, but WE can all clearly see Portia's not attracted to him, never mind her actually literally telling us that. She needs to stop stringing him along and put an end to it. She wants to feel like the kind of person that WOULD be attracted to an ostensible "good guy" like Albie but in this case, she just isn't, and that's okay. Albie's giving off weird savior-complex-vibes anyway. But she either doesn't want to admit that to herself or she just enjoys the attention, either way, she should stop fucking around.
Leo Woodall is one of those guys whose face I recognize immediately but the only thing I can actually remember him being in is The Vampire Academy (tv show) which he was in for like 2 episodes. Like, I completely forgot he was in this show.
Legit so excited for these weekly drops, so fun to watch your reactions. Never has a show made me cringe so hard from the realistic awkwardness
Maple has clearly missed her calling as a tarot reader!! :)
I think a personal assistant for someone with a net worth of $500 million would probably make $80-100K per year or so. That's basically pocket change for Tanya. I'm sure all of Portia's expenses on this trip (airfare, hotel room, meals) are probably being covered by Tanya as well. That said, I can't imagine how emotionally taxing it would be to have someone as astonishingly needy as Tanya for a boss.
