Have been waiting for this reaction
My only real complaint with this show is the release schedule... the first season was filmed in 2018, when Zendaya was 22 and Sydney Sweeney was 21. It's not very unusual for twentysomething actors to play high school students on TV shows. But then the second season didn't release until early 2022, more than 2½ years after the first season (two special episodes were released in late 2020 and early 2021) aired. The show has a third season in production, and it was supposed to begin filming two years ago but the writer's strike messed everything up. They did start filming S3 earlier this year, but it's not going to be released until sometime in 2026 - 7 years after the first season aired. Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney are both now almost 30 years old... playing high school students. It's like Stranger Things ridiculously drawn out release schedule, but with even longer gaps between seasons.
This show had a lot of production / creative issues, they had contractual issues, they had actors being upset with their storylines, issues, etc. The 3 main characters, Zendaya, Jacob E, and Sydney, are some of the most high-profile, busy, and booked actors right now, so scheduling is a conflict. Not to mention this show is very cinematic, so that takes a while to make it look so cool, which also plays a part in the licensing, like the amazing soundtrack using some of the biggest artists. Sure, they have some big names helping produce this, like Drake and other rich people, but it's gonna take time. Remember, this is people's real life, not an old show we can get immediately watch because it's on demand. Also, 2 years in between seasons is actually VERY NORMAL, don't let shows who milk things out asap confuse you. But I do agree that this show specifically, if they prioritized this show to go with its hype, it should've been made sooner. Zendaya being in, I believe, 4 Marvel movies, the Dune movies, her other acting roles, her modeling, and a million other things she's doing, given the fact that he's the main character and is usually on the screen, that's probably what was the biggest holdup. Her role in Marvel slowed down, so it seemed to open up more time it seemed.
*sigh* yeah okay fine guess it's time for ANOTHER re-watch...
I'm oddly excited for this one lol
I love how entranced both of you guys were instantly. This shit is art.
This is one of those shows that is so out there and fantastical, then blindsides you with some personal moments that are a little too real
We're in for a wild ride! I'm actually surprised neither of you have seen this before.
........Oh boy😳
Wow this'll be a trip lmao
I know many people view this show as an exageration of high school but it is suprisingly close to the sixth form experience I grew up around and as such I felt rather immersed in the plot of this show. the acting and visuals are also phenomenal
Yeah Im 30 now, but this isnt all that different from my junior and senior years of highschool, its just heightened a bit. I unfortunately spent most days finding and taking whatever I could to get high, and there was usually at least one house party most weekends.
Sooooo excited for this reaction!
Euphoria is an accurate depiction of what my mom thought was happening when I went out in high-school
Lol
Ooh nice this a good show
