The Fox execs did not like this pilot. Thought it was too dark. So they didn't air it until december, after a fair number of episodes had aired!! Instead the show started with the next episode, that they thought had more humor. Hard to imagine what execs were thinking in those days.
I love watching the progression of reactors to the intro song of this show. It starts off with wtf is this, and turns into a sing-along about halfway through the season.
damn, what an absolute treat. so excited for this reaction. i haven't watched this show in over 15 years—had forgotten how truly hectic that pilot is. 😂
I was really excited when I saw this one come up, thanks for doing a variety of shows.!
Oh! And K-Pop Demon Hunters. It’s such a fun movie.
So Morena Baccarin, who plays Inara (she’s also Deadpool’s girlfriend in the films) has not had plastic surgery. She’s just that gorgeous. Looking forward to watching along with you all. I hope you do the movie also!
Everybody turns their nose up to the theme song at first, and by the end, they're singing along to it.
One of my favorite shows. I hope you stick with it 👍
Maple- Nice catch with Wash (Alan Tudyk) miming the steering wheel. Many of didn't catch that until it was pointed out on the DVD commentary. Love this show and love how much you all were invested in this pilot.
This show has the exact same issue as Star Trek TNG where the "first" episode is basically a movie and is played pretty slow because they just want to build the world, even though its a universe.
You guys should try Darkplace at some point, fun little short show
Glad to see you guys trying this one again! Sometimes it's just down to timing on how a piece of media hits, and you seemed to be having more fun with it now than before, so I'm looking forward to more!
Thank you, sometimes you watch something and it just doesn't hit on that particular day. That said, it was a long time ago and it has some rough moments. But I still love it. Joss whedon obviously ended up being a dick but he did make some good stuff.
Lotta salty people in here about a 14-episode series lol everyone needs to chill
For real, why's everyone so angry lol! I've never seen Firefly despite actually seeing the sequel film Serenity years ago completely unaware of the connection. Have always wanted to understand why this series had such a cult following.
Will you be doing The Bear s4?
Yes, when it fits into our schedule more cleanly.
Sorry, not excited with some of the show choices lately. Firefly and AD were canceled for a reason. They’re just not great.
Arrested Development is an absolute banger, cmon. That show is hilarious on many levels. They were both canceled because fox has no idea how to handle a good show, and they aired episodes out of order with both shows because they just didn't care.
Have only watched the opening seconds of this one, but this IS the original reaction from way back when, right?
No this seems to be a new one, they're making WWDITS references
firefly was a...choice
The characters make this show great and their relationships with each other.
Who saw this one coming? 🤯
FIREFLY?!?! YASSS
Literal spit take
"I'll kill a man in a fair fight. OR if I think he's gonna start a fair fight." -- Jayne this is going to be awesome!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yes...yes...you're all one step closer to Farscape and you don't even know it. Beloved, but underwatched sci-fi television series? Check An appreciation of media that is off-kilter and weird? Check An established love of muppets? Check and check Everything is pulling you towards the same destination: 4 seasons and a mini series of a show that maybe 5 people on patreon will actually give two shits about...
Lol I was a big Farscape kid myself
About gorram time.
I’m excited to revisit this one.
The crazier thing about the amount of world building in the pilot episode is that Fox’s insane order of airing the episodes had the next episode (Train Job) as the first episode they aired and this pilot episode was like #10 or #11. Looking forward to your reactions!
Firefly? Eh. If yall are doing short series’, PLEASE have them watch Joe Pera Talks to You. It’s such a funny, pleasant vibe, and there’s only about 30 11-minute episodes. It’s on Hulu.
This frees up my Fridays for a while
Damn I don't know how I feel about this lol the show has not aged super well in a lot of ways. I still love it but there's some rough patches. I appreciate you guys giving it a second try!
You guys are doing tons of great TV lately. Any chance we’ll eventually see some Veronica Mars?
wait a minut i thought u guys were'nt feelin this show lol
Again? I thought you guys already tried this?
Oh it WAS Diegesis that started then quit Firefly a while back? Thought I was getting my reactors mixed up. Love the show and all, but it does seem like a random choice either way. Was kinda getting ready for another long runner like GoT or Saul.
