Planet of the Apes | Watch Along

So, well the sequels aren't great (even though a couple are underrated), they are interesting in the way sequels in the current blockbuster era aren't because...they didn't really know what they were doing. So, it's a bit more disjointed and wacky than say, if there was a bunch of executives and writers planning things out for years in advance.
Hope you’re not going to franchise this one as most of the sequels would be more suitable for the Bad Movie Channel. Wish Fox had just let this classic movie stand on its own.
If you are planning to watch the whole franchise, don't be discouraged if you're not wild about the next one. I remember liking it, despite it being a weak follow up, but some people seem to hate it.
one of my favorite things about this movie is how they all have beards that I would have after like 2 weeks of not shaving, but that's supposed to be some clue as to how long they've been asleep. Waiting for PurportedGrey to comment on how how unrealistic it is for there to be a black astronaut in the 60s. Smoking still looks cool, if I didnt know smoking caused cancer I would totally do it. "They look more or less human" They just look human, there is even a very sexy human.

Oh what a classic!
Planet of the Apes (2001) would be great for the bad movie channel!
Such a classic and the newer 4 Apes movies are really great too, also if ya’ll ever watch the Knives Out movies i think theyd be awesome for ya’ll to react to
I remember finally watching this movie like 25 years ago, already knowing the gist and twist (thx to simpsons), fully expecting a dumb B movie, then being blown away. When this wacky-sounding sci-fi movie morphs into a courtroom drama, I was beyond hooked. *If* y'all wanna continue with the 'franchise', I'd forestall a lot of disappointment and just jump straight to the 2011 reboot. Nothing will ever top the original, but at least the reboot series is pretty fun.
I love this, but I can't help but throw the musical out there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlmzUEQxOvA

Love all these films 🔥
😍 Please do the whole franchise 🤞🏻
Another great SCI FI film, starring Charlton Heston is Soylent Green (just like this film, it has a brilliant social critique)
"Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!" best quote ever!!
So far there have been two references that makes me think our friendly neighborhood hosts have watched The Holy Grail and that makes me very happy.
Yeah, Maple brought it up several times during GoT and Arianna hadn't seen it. But she made a "flesh wound" reference so I hope that's coming soon!
I adore Charlton Heston movies. Granted I've only seen three, but I loved two of them and I like this one.
This is awesome. If you guys ever react to the first Knives Out I will love you forever.
Sensational!
