Parasite (2019) | Watch Along

Saltburn would be another good one to watch.

Korean stuff is some of the most f'd up films you will ever see. Their films are so well done, but so messed up. If you want to get destroyed, watch a Korean horror film. Japanese horror is pretty rough as well. Some good content for Halloween this year!

So who was the parasite?

whole family of slippin jimmies

Firstly I just want to say thanks for shocking the crap out of me and choosing this movie as it finally gave me the kick up the ass I needed to finally get around to watching it. I watched a ton of Korean cinema back in the ‘00s, aka its Golden Era, when it finally broke through to the international stage with so many awesome creepy horrors, intense thrillers, close-to-the-bone dramas and wacky, absurd black comedies. As I dove into their movies I had the same reaction as you guys. I was just not used to - and kinda overwhelmed by - the sheer brutality of it all. The Koreans don’t mess around. Regardless of genre, they have absolutely no qualms when it comes to showing physical and emotional violence in all its unapologetic and fucked up “glory”. They do not pull punches. Especially when it comes to the commonly recurring theme of the social divide. It’s almost a semi-requirement for movies to say at least something about it and as you saw, Parasite pretty much said everything about it. It’s definitely a pre-occupation for its director, Bong Joon-Ho who drills it home even more viciously in the I-can’t-recommend-it-highly-enough, Snowpiercer and The Host. Both of which star the lead Parasite dad, Song Kang-Ho, one of the best actors in the country. Anyway, I’m glad I finally caught up to this movie and am really not sure why I avoided it even after it won TWO Best Picture Oscars (loved how they finally gave a non-US movie Best Picture AND Best foreign). It was an amazing experience, so thanks.

my sister and I made those noodles during the oscars in hopes they won lol ive loved bong joon ho ever since snow piercer he is such an underrated director. Also made train to Busan one of the best if not the best zombie film.

I would love a discussion video
