Respect yourself…
If a developer has been taking your money for nearly a year, delivering little or nothing, barely communicating, and then treating you like the problem for asking what’s going on… that’s not support anymore. You’re being taken advantage of.
Don’t be an ATM with a Patreon account.
Support developers who respect your money enough to communicate, deliver, and be accountable when things go wrong. You earned that money. Spend it on creators who act like they appreciate it.

Slow updates and disappearing for a while aren't even the biggest problems. The biggest problem is that you clearly know what everyone wants, yet you keep putting a huge amount of time and effort into other things. Everything I'm saying below is just my personal opinion, so I hope it doesn't affect you in any negative way. As everyone can see, let's take supporting a creator for a year as an example. For the same amount of money, if all I wanted was simply to play games, I could just buy a AAA game and enjoy it. That's not really why people come here in the first place. It's an adult game! It's an **adult** game first and foremost. We want to see her fall deeper and deeper. We want to see different scenes, stories, and interactions actually happen. But in most cases, after supporting a game for an entire year, we only get a tiny amount of that kind of content. What we want to see is something like this: the game reaches Day 3, and as her corruption level increases, the protagonist can start working or interacting in certain locations, leading to certain relationships and events. Instead, what most developers give us is an update saying, "We fixed some bugs this month and added a new character and a new quest." And then that quest turns out to be just a few extra lines of dialogue. Honestly, that can be really frustrating. I understand that most developers can't support their lives entirely through their games, which is why development and updates can be very slow. And when we support them, we're also just trying to contribute whatever little we can to help them keep going. But often, the result still ends up being quite disappointing. I'd honestly rather pay for a proper one-time purchase, even if it's just an Early Access version that could be released on Steam. I'm not saying any of this specifically because of you. What you said simply made me think about this, and I wanted to share my thoughts. I hope none of this affects you personally. The amount of time, effort, and passion you've put into the game deserves respect.
It doesn't hurt my feelings. lol. I haven't had any patreons for a year so no one can say that about me yet. lol. Hopefully my releases are good.
I also find that most people find it difficult to express the sentiment of what they are trying to say in text format. A joke can easily be interpreted as an insult for example. If I had a £ for every time my comments were misinterpreted, I'd be a rich man lol
I agree with that. But in this case, I'm referring to one specific dev who was not only rude to me for trying to help him, but rude to his entire patreon base... I'm talking about a guy who hasn't delivered anything in almost a year, and his excuse was burnout... Which I understand... But he had NO problem taking peoples money for a year with no work done, without telling them. And then to be rude to the people asking him what's up? Those same people that are paying him? I just don't stand for that. But yea, some people are assholes to devs, and some people SOUND like assholes but just suck at forming sentences. lol.
Very true, also supporters should provide feedback, no point subscribed and being silent, doesn't help the developer, also criticism isn't a personal attack and unconstructive criticism helps absolutely no one, but I guess that can be subjective too lol
I agree completely, though I will add a caveat of sorts when it comes to criticism; some people just aren't good at articulating themselves and putting their thoughts into words. What is often dismissed as "unconstructive" criticism is actually a valid observation, just that the person giving it sees something that sits wrong with them but they just can't put it into words and certainly can't give a suggestion how to fix it, they just know or feel that it isn't "right". While certainly not fun to read through comments like that most times, always keep in mind that they might actually have a valid point, just one poorly expressed. Now the trolls who just put troll comments on the other hand, well obviously just screw those guys.
