Concept Artwork: The Nightmare
A thin, yet significant veil separates the realm of the living with that of the 'other side', a disembodied place full of wonder and horror in equal measure, inhabited by disembodied spirits both malevolent and benevolent. For common mortals, the only time they catch the barest glimpse of the world beyond the veil is in their dreams - and nightmares.
The Fae, due to their strong connection with the flora and fauna of the world, are able to come from the 'other side' and take on physical form, and other creatures within the void jealously wish to do the same and be able to feel what it is like to be physical realm.
One such is an evil creature known as the Nightmare, or the M忙re. It is an incredibly malevolent spirit that haunts the dreams of the guilty and traumatized, bringing unto them endless terrors until they are weakened enough for the Nightmare to possess them and incite them to do horrific things to themselves and those around them.
With the help of spirits from the 'other side', such as the Fae, Claire can meet the Nightmare face-on and attempt the incredibly dangerous task of forcing the Nightmare to relinquish its grip on its victims - one of them potentially including none other than her own mother. But beware - for to face the Nightmare, Claire must enter its domain, and in the land of dreams and nightmares, the Nightmare can easily dominate Claire's mind and render her a terror-stricken puppet as well...

something about the spindly legs and having so many of them makes it so unnerving
The main design philosophy was to create an equine form alongside the idea it should just look "wrong" no matter how you look at it!
Love the design
