I think 3 seasons was absolutely perfect for this show. I know they canceled the US version of Squid Game but I think they should have never planned that but instead a prequel series for Oh ll-nam early years leading up to In-Ho’s game would have been more interesting. I don’t think a US version would have been able to capture the magic Squid Game S1 did it truly was a lightning in a bottle. The VIPs even said themselves that the Korean games are always the best so it’s almost like cant beat the original type of situation so it would have been a waste of time.

The older woman who met with the boy that grew up, I think was his mother. The one his sister promised him and who she hired the guy to find.

I think in the end that the squid game continues in Korea just in a different place, if you think about how the real world works with all the epstein and trump stuff, I think it was just supposed to show that these things happen in every part of the world, because the rich are connected and they like to enjoy all kinds of twisted sh*t. And it was also supposed to tease potential spin-off. But lets not forget that these type of things that we saw on squid game are happening, or even worse unfortunately. We are not horses, we are humans and we should stand up, open our eyes and finally start doing something with the powerful wealthy leaders of this world.

i'm sure other people have commented this on earlier videos, but i want to get into the details because i was kind of obsessed with s1.. the squid game functions as a critique of capitalism since it depicts how severe economic disparity can push individuals into extreme situations causing them to value money over their lives and the lives of the other players. the players seem to have a choice because they take part in the games voluntarily, but most of them are so terribly in debt that their return to a normal life appears as equally unbearable as potentially dying in the games. this raises a question of whether people are truly free when their economic situation leaves them with so few realistic alternatives. the games are a metaphor of a society based on competition that encourages people to think of the success as a product of one’s hard work and of the failure as an individual’s personal fault. despite the fact that the games function under the same rules, there is still a difference between the contestants in their conditions and skills, which means that the playing field is rarely level for everyone. as the games unfold, it becomes clear that each player must look out for themselves above all else. the marble match between gi-hun and il-nam as well as sang-woo’s betrayal of ali underline how competition can corrode trust and solidarity. while there is a chance that players could stick together against the ones having organized the games (as seen in the end of s2), the harsh reality is that they must betray each other to survive. the VIPs represent the extreme concentration of wealth and power. whereas the contestants gamble with their lives in order to win money, the VIPs sit to watch the contestants suffer for their entertainment. the contrast between these two groups exists as the reflection of how economic disparity enables people to benefit from the misery of others without being affected by the consequences. the voting mechanism furthers the message of the show even further. after the experience of the first fatal game in s1 (the very first red-light green-light) the players have the chance vote to leave, but many return later since their debts and financial problems still need to be resolved. while they did give their consent to participate in the game, their return to the games raises the question of how meaningful their consent really is (given their circumstances). the series indicates that even when people have a choice, it does not really mean they can escape from poverty. ultimately, the series delivers the message that the capitalist system can motivate people to act against their moral rules and even to give up their humanity, when the matter is simply about financial survival. yet, at the same time, the series shows us that selflessness is also an option, as we witness gi-hun helping others in danger. through this contrast, it becomes clear that the series challenges that in a capitalistic society, competition and individual gain are valued more than empathy, compassion, and humanity.

There WAS going to be a US Squid Game, though apparently Netflix scrapped it in August. :(

Since this comment contains a spoiler, I want to talk some stupid nonsense beforehand so that the text gets cut off so not everyone sees what I'm about to say and hopefully it was enough nonsense so no one got spoilered by it............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ Well, from a writers perspective, they shouldn't have let the main character die. We all would've enjoyed seeing him continue to hunt down the people responsible for the squid games then in the US. But with Gi-Hun gone, it wouldn't have made any sense. Lee Jung-jae, the actor who plays Seong Gi-hun he is not fluent in English and generally uses an interpreter or works with dialect and language coaches for English roles, so I don't know if that played a role or not, but I probably wouldn't have watched further seasons anyway.

So they were supposed to be expanding the Squid Game universe to show what the games are like overseas, starting with American Squid Games. It was supposed to be directed by David Fincher, but Netflix canceled it. I believe they were also going to end up making a show based on the first Squid Game made by Oh Il Nam. Sucks because I was really looking forward to it. Oh well. At least they did one hell of a job on these 3 seasons

This is when squid game was at its peak and there was an American version planned I think Mexico too or another country if im not mistaken. Once it cooled down plans were changed and don't know if we will get any kind of continuation or variety for this show.

Truly a wonderful series in my opinion, i started it in 2023 since i hadn't heard of it before, but along the seasons i think Season 1 was still the best written, Season 2 was a good continuation and season 3 took out all of the characters we liked, and the cliffhanger is lowkey insane until now, but i don't think there will be a Season 4.

The VIPs represent the ultra rich and rich, the billionaires and millionaires in the world and how they're predatory practices to amass wealth affect society.
