Some people hated this episode but it is one of my favorites. I just wanted Eastman to come to Alexandria.
This show was not meant to be binged. You need a full week to recover and be ready for the next highs and lows
I agree, that Glenn episode leaves a sour taste in your mouth for anything that is happening after lol
I had a conversation with a family member who thinks we should be detaining and executing anyone who MIGHT be a terrorist. During the discussion I brought up that out Faith requires us to forgive even out enemys. They went on a rant about how sure they were that I would not forgive someone who hurt my family. My answer was "I honestly don't know if I could or not but what I do know for certain is God's expectations do not change regardless of whether I live up to them or not. All life IS precious to God.
I have that same book Eastman gave to Morgan. It was sitting on my shelf the day this aired, and I ran to my room and grabbed it and brought it out to show to my uncle who was watching that episode with me. 🥲 If anyone is wondering, Forms — or ‘Katas’ are honest expressions of basic skills. 🙏🏽
This is my favorite episode of the entire show. Ive rewtached it more than any other.
I wish Eastman had been around for Lizzy.... if she had been put in somewhere safe while he talked with her she might have been okay.
This episode got so much hate for going away from the main story and Glenn, but it’s honestly one of their best. John Carol Lynch usually plays small parts or bad men like in Zodiac. But he crushes the role of Eastman and for one episode it’s some of the best acting writing in the show,
No W.D. Happy dance. It has its ups and downs. They do circle back to fill in the blanks.
That intro was pure depression
My favorite episode of season 6. More great episodes to come tho
Just remember Morgan was “checked out” too. So was Abraham, so was Bob, so Rick, so was everyone. This show does great job making you feel the way the characters do.
I love this episode, Eastman is my fav one episode character.
I’m in NWPA. Close to the Ny Border.4
Beautifully reacted Tom. Seeing this episode again back to back did feel like breath of fresh air. When I first watched back in the day, I was disappointed because I was eager to see the aftermath of the other episodes. Appreciate this episode way more now, thanks Tom.
This is one of the few episodes I always skip. The first time around it's fine but after that it's time to get on with the show.
I didn’t like this episode when it aired. It was the pacing of having to wait a week for a new episode and then it wasn’t the continuation of previous episode but something else and I found that very frustrating. But I ended up really liking this episode. I think I needed Eastmans therapy. Like others said, at this time in the show it flows much better when you can binge watch it.
This episode perfectly encapsulates why I love mental health / psychology
Ouch. The Intro! 😢❤️
This is one of my favorite episodes in TWD. I used to think it's placement in the season was odd, and it definitely gave many of us temporary whiplash when we went from the end of the last episode to this one a week later. but after your comment about how it was a nice reprieve after last episode made me rethink. I think your thoughts on the showrunner's intent is probably the most likely, giving us essentially a two week break to process what happened. The dynamic Eastman and Morgan had was awesome to see, it's such a shame we didn't get to see Eastman AND Morgan find Rick. I think Eastman would've gotten along so well with the group in Alexandria. I also have a soft spot for his love of his goat, my mom raises goats and I always get sad when his goat dies, they're such silly and goofy creatures at times :(
Eastman was good people🙏
Oh no Tom didn't dance or get hyped up in the opening ;A; (Honestly don't blame ya since this was immediately following after 6x3 without a day or so buffer in between watching the two eps)
You pausing to talk about being sad, yeah the show can really get to you. To be fair, I was 14 when I was watching this on TV 11 years ago but I remember multiple times where I went into this state after an episode where I'd have to just walk into my room and sit in the dark lol. That's always been a sign to me of good writing though, to watch a show that you know contains death and characters are going to die, and they are still able to connect you so deeply to the characters that you still feel it.
Man i loved this episode
Eastman, been so excited for this, a real man after my own heart
I've always loved this episode, such a beautiful story and welcome break from the insanity from last episode.
Does everyone realize how difficult it is to be totally silent when walking in the woods? Silent enough to not be heard when attempting to sneak up on another person (or in this case on a walker). I grew up surrounded by woods. Spent my childhood amongst trees trees trees. It was a wonderful and adventurous childhood. 🩵
I mean yeah the whole "Silent walkers" thing is fully just for shock and jumpscare effect. It doesn't make any sense but it is a show and they want to get a reaction out of people.
I love this episode but I've always hated where it was placed I know people who watched from week to week were really pissed about it. But over time I've come to see it as a breath of fresh air, a little break from the insanity.
That's why I say this show is a lot better on streaming. The show turned into so much back and forth to stretch out one narrative that they'd end up making you wait an entire month to see something actually progress. But when you can sit down and just watch those 4 episodes in a few days instead of a month? Yeah its better lol
Now you know the significance of those three items Morgan put on the alter of Gabriel's church were. The rabbit foot, the bullet and the chocolate 'Goo-Goo'. I loved this episode and it was strategically placed just like you said. Keep in mind, in the future, that whenever you see a very traumatic episode that you need to watch the next one right away.
👍
I always, ALWAYS have wanted to see bob meet eastman
Really liked this episode
Oh and also I just remember, you can watch another episode basically instantly, what do you think how we did feel when we had to wait another week or longer? :D
How good is a show, if you get sooo attached to the characters, that you even think you can't find hope or joy in it when one of them dies? Can't wait for the next episodes ^^ You can say what you want, but it is captivating :)
I really do wish Eastman coulda made it on in the series
Me too!👍
Uh oh, Tom didn’t get down to the TWD intro. It’s not looking good yall 😳
😢
I’ve been excited for SO LONG for you to see this episode. Partly because I love Morgan’s character but mainly to see your thoughts on Eastman. RIP. Gone too soon. It’s at least quite heartwarming to see how content Eastman was with his demise, he was very at peace to the end. There were a few complaints when this episode released because of how it was placed right after what we just saw with Glenn but awkward placement aside I love this episode.
Same!
