The Walking Dead Season 6 Episodes 1 (UNEDITED REACTION!)

The writers for this show have fantastic imaginations. This is my 4th time watching it through. I’m really enjoying watching it with Tom and all of you. 🩵

this is one of my favorite season premieres. it was so intense especially with the back and forth between the past and present. i love the black & white for the past too. i also love how it all came together. i knew from this episode this season was going to be insane. ngl rick was right about carter and the people in the group not willing to change and fight to survive. rick literally said, "you are going to change". that wasn't optional. yes deanna isn't a bad leader but they are/weren't prepared to handle the world they live in. and like he said, someone like carter, he's not supposed to be alive. he has no survival instincts. most of the people in alexandria got lucky. they haven't had to encounter that many walkers besides the ones that slipped through the semis and wandering from wherever else. even carter immediately asking for help when the walkers came. instead of doing what he needed to survive just proves ricks point. they have to learn to defend themselves. you can't depend on others to fight for you, everyone has to pull their weight, and morgan didn't give them a chance bc he jumped in therefore everyone else followed suit. i agree partially with what you said about rick and morgan. it's not necessarily about being more stable but different ideologies. you can see the tension building between them. it's so interesting bc of how morgan and rick were behaving the last time him and rick saw each other. yes rick doesn't take chances anymore but that was about certain aspects not in general. he even told deanna they all need to be armed, which they do, so it's not that he's wrong. rick is very thoughtful and sometimes he can be impulsive but i think his patience is lacking, and imo, rightfully so. if you're not willing to fight to survive then why are you here? no more excuses. deanna let a lot fly and it's not like she did it intentionally, she didn't know better. thats why carol said yes she (deanna) is in "charge" but rick is truly in charge bc he is making the calls and hard choices. i can't wait to see your reaction to the rest of the season.

TWD loves to do cold opens that take place after a jump in time that's intercut with scenes from the past that bridges that episode and sometimes multiple episode events together. I love non-linear storytelling like this, TWD does it so masterfully well. I get how disorienting it can be when you're not expecting it though. Appreciate you taking time to talk about the emotions those on the spectrum can have and feel. In my case specifically, I feel there are times where I'm feeling TOO much of a single emotion, let alone multiple all at once lol. The whole peanut butter protein bar bit always slays me 💀 idk if you remember but she did actually take a protein bar lmao Rick even comments on it, "We're eating his food now?" And she responds with a shrug and, "Mat said welcome." 🤣

Every time I watch this and Sasha asks Abraham "If you were so worried then why did you come" thr real answer goes through my head: He came BECAUSE he was so worried.
