omg I never noticed the provocative imagery on the wall (during the scene with the VIP in private) the first time I watched this hahaha

Also, the rules explicitly state that you must "obtain all ten of your partner's marbles." NOT that you must have ALL 20 at the end. Oh Il Nam was trying to give Gi-Hun a hint that as "gganbu" (in which what's yours is mine and vise-versa), they only had to literally exchange pouches-- I have your marbles, and you have mine. Both players pass. That's my outlook, anyway. The guards and workers DO adhere to the letter of the law precisely, after all... But the players are so focused on survival and by now so many have developed a blood lust, they didn't pick up on that nuance. Oh Il-Nam by the end decided to drop the act, give Gi-Hun the win, and then bow out of the contest. My humble assessment. Which, if that's the case, makes it all the more tragic. Everyone could have survived this round.

I guess the implication is that three marble games never had a definitive winner by the time limit so instead of 20 left there's 17.

These are real people being used as furniture, not statues. Apparently, they were also workers or people who had debts, and they were given a less risky and dangerous way to pay off those debts. The show uses them to symbolize the extreme wealth, power, and moral corruption of the VIPs, who treat human beings as disposable commodities and literal objects
