I'm not to worried about this group since they all ended up dying off screen. I believe the creator said it and confirmed it. I could be wrong though so dont quote me but RIP Beth she deserved better.

I'd argue that shows like this are designed to make you feel all sorts of emotions especially towards the darker or dramatic side of things. It's a way to escape and let out aggression in a safe and healthy way. I'm no therapist, but with what little bit of psychology I do know, so long as you're not going out killing people, rooting for the death of a person in a fictional show, is normal and healthy so long as you don't wish that on anyone in the real world.

And the crying begins only took 3 episodes, and he said as long as he had his tissues... I feel for ya but Beth knew she was gonna die the second she stabbed that bitch.

Thinking that, in the end, Maggie was so close, but never got to see Beth again :(( Their last moments were still losing each other at the prison after their dad was killed. So awful.

Is there any way to get rid of that bloody annoying 'white box' on the right? It obscures the comments so much that most of the time I don't bother trying to read them. Thanks for any tips offered.

Man I cry almost every time i see this episode. I think a lot of people were upset by this, even Emily Kinney (the actress that plays Beth), but we gotta move on.

D
Dee D · August 23, 2026

Yes, I remember when they had her on The Talking Dead immediately after this episode aired. She couldn't stop crying and neither could I!

“You’re gonna miss so bad when I’m gone Daryl dixon” -Beth

Poor Beth! Bless her heart. She was indeed a precious character. I cried the first time I saw that scene years go, but when Daryl broke down I cried ugly tears. 😭 It still gets me even today.

S
Skyler · August 22, 2026

Losing Beth was shocking but also hurt me BAD! She deserved more time to develope :( And Maggies cry made me start crying even more, the sound of loss & heartbreak from a person who lost a loved one is the WORST! Maggies lost her father and sister within a few weeks :( BUT Rick Grimes this season (Demon Rick lol) is the biggest 180 of a character from season 1 & 2, even a step up from season 3. I LOVE LOVE his character, he's so cold but we know he tries to be reasonable, but he does hit some points of doing the more harsh thing first rather than his altruistic natured decisions.

The discomfort with grief means TWD is an opportunity for growth! This show is definitely a rollercoaster but struggling together builds such intense intimacy and relationships!

:(

C
Callie · August 22, 2026

This is the first time seeing this episode since my sister passed and... man... it makes you notice different things than before. Daryl whimpering? 😭 Why is it when the tough people break that it hits the hardest?

D
Demceez · August 22, 2026

I think cos you know how much pain and turmoil they must be feeling for them to actually break. 😔

D
David Guerrero · August 22, 2026

Appreciate you spoiling us with 4 episodes a week, but I feel like we are moving too to fast. Back in the day it felt like Beth was around for years since we had to wait so long for weekly episodes and in between seasons. With that note 1 additional episode on Monday’s would help with the case of the Monday’s 😁

The ending scene, with the musical score building, the group arriving, Daryl walking out carrying Beth, Maggie collapsing...it really is one of the most heartwrenching scenes in the show. It was beautifully shot, it conveyed the mood perfectly. And ya it's all Dawn's fault. She just couldn't let it go, thinking show 'owned' people and Noah felt guilty so he was going to stay. Our group wasn't going to allow that. Again, we are in an amazing stretch of the show. My favorite one actually. It's a very long, difficult one with ups and downs but it's a pivotal part and I love it and it keeps on being amazing for many more episodes before there's even a bit of a lull, in my opinion of course!

Stephanie Skelton · August 22, 2026

Tom, I've seen this episode a couple of times (I love a good rewatch), and it still guts me, even when I know it's coming. Thank you for your genuine reactions - I'm really glad I joined your patreon :)

"When Daryl cries, I cry." Still holds true for me.

S

one hundred percent. I have a mug that says "If Daryl dies, we riot."... He is the most incredible character in the show.

The poster behind you looks like you through a lot of the TWD episodes. :) I liked how Gabriel experienced being outside of the church begging to be let in.... just like his congregation did when HE was the one inside.

T
Tina Johnson · August 22, 2026

RIP Beth…

M
Mami's Gatos · August 23, 2026

That actress hasn't aged a bit. She still looks the same

L
Luke Fitton · August 22, 2026

When it comes to the Season 1 original characters we’re currently only at 5 of them left (not including Morgan). Rick, Carl, Glenn, Carol & Daryl. Goes to show just how much our group has changed.

Fender Fox · August 22, 2026

Tom there's an interesting movie called THE EXPERIMENT, With Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker where they apply for an experiment where guards and inmates stay in a controlled prison experiment and yeah, you should watch it sometime 😉

S
Stephen L · August 22, 2026

I watched this show back in the day when I was a teenager and I had the biggest crush on Beth 😂😂. I still hate this episode lol but it did give me a shock when it happened for sure.

i was so shocked when Beth died bro i was not expecting it literally one of the saddest death..

A

The title for this episode is so diabolical man. "Coda" For those who don't know what a coda is: Coda Noun. 1. a concluding musical section that is formally distinct from the main structure (and sometimes finishes off the musical piece in repeated measures from earlier in the piece) 2. a concluding part of a literary or dramatic work 3. something that serves to round out, conclude, or summarize and usually has its own interest This episode was literally Beth's coda and I'll never get over it.

D
Dee D · August 23, 2026

Thanks for explaining that! I never looked up the meaning or put that together. How fitting. RIP Beth. She's with her mom & dad now.
