i deleted snapchat a while back and just getting rid of one social was so freeing!!! i’m down to 30 minutes a day on tiktok with the intention of deleting asap. i gotta get rid of the other bullshit like twitter and mute a lot of stuff on instagram to get any kind of brain power back i think 🧐. OBSESSED with returning to slow media. so countercultural and scholarly😛. thank u to all the binchies recommending such slayful screen time reduction tactics! NEED to read the harry memoir asap bc, as people are saying, daily mail is a heinous conservative machine! Anyways love you all💗💗💗

thanks so much for sharing a new comic with us Alice <3 I hope with time and slow recovery you can find the artistic motivation you lost with burnout and other things. We're here with you all the way! As for screen-less tablets there's a lot of artists I know in the comic industry who definitely use them or prefer them. It does go down to personal taste. Some people don't like that feeling of drawing on glass, as it were. Altho personally I do prefer screen tablets and procreate+Ipad also ended up becoming a fave of mine to make less serious work. So lovely, Alice!! The top right panel on page 9 is particularly iconic: the colors, the kiss, the **hands** - absolute perfection! I never really got used to my Wacom tablet and it's currently tucked away in my desk drawer. One of my dearest friends is an artist and does a lot of digital work; she agrees that Photoshop with a Wacom tablet gives better results but thinks Procreate on an iPad is an easier hand-eye feel. Either way, you're killing it!

I use screen tablet, xp-pen, bc I'm still much more used to traditional media and when I tried screenless one my brain had problems to process, I'm so used to seeing my hands on the page. I'm always so impressed when people can make stuff this good on screenless. I make comics as a hobby and I work on an iPad. I tried screenless tablets back in the day but my brain couldn't bridge the disconnected feeling. I've known other artists who love screenless tho.

This mini comic is SO beautiful. Thank you for making it, Alice! I'm so impressed you made it in a screenless drawing tablet. My first drawing tablet was screenless and I took me a while to get used to it. I didn't draw for many years, and some months ago I got a screen drawing tablet, and I'm much more comfortable with it. It's a xp-pen tablet, so less expensive than wacom, and totally great. But hey, if you are this good with your current tablet, there's no need to change it 😉

This is so lovely! I have a 12 year old who draws and they had been using procreate for a while. They just started using a Wacom tablet and the difference is amazing. They are really impressed with the extra details they can make happen with the tablet.

Ohhh this is wonderful! I went back to my non-screen wacom after trying to use an ipad for a while, its so much nicer for my neck and elbow haha!

i have a tablet with a monitor right now, and ive tried turning the screen off a few times and i really like it. it's better for posture among other things. so the next time i need a tablet, i'm gonna buy one without a screen. plus, for the same money, you get get a better quality tablet without the screen cause the screen makes it more expensive. so i agree with it taking more concentration but the effort is also worth it!

This mini comic is stunning and freaking adorable !! I adore it Have you tried a middle ground for drawing ? Tablet with a screen that you plug to your computer ? That way you can still use Photoshop. I honestly can never go back to one without a screen now but I know that for people who draw a lot you need to set it up right to not hurt your neck (cause you look down at your tablet instead of straight to the screen)

Hi, I don’t make comics but I do make digital art. I used to use a Wacom tablet and a software on my computer to make art but I found it very isolating and boring always having to sit alone at a computer tucked away somewhere. I know use an iPad with procreate purely for the fact that it can be moved around to wherever I want to be. Much more freedom in that aspect. In terms of quality of work I haven’t noticed a huge difference but I didn’t use photoshop so suppose that one is down to your personal opinion, whatever you feel makes your art look better
