The "Blazing Saddles" Shapiro defense is curious, because "Blazing Saddles" isn't just absurd and satirical, it is specifically a satire targeting prejudicial attitudes and beliefs. e.g. making fun of religious bigotry, racial bigotry, etc. Comparing this new film to "The Room" sounds like the more apt comparison. Although "The Room" is solidly apolitical.

What’s hilarious to me is the absolute naked and shrill glee with which the movie revels in the death of its opponents. It tries to get around it by portraying them as misguided and via the lecturing dialogue but the lingering shots on the guy getting pushed off the roof and the trans person hung by an LGBTQ+ flag just absolutely gives the game away. If anything it just underlines how much these alt-right conservatives have in common with ISIS. Which tracks given the fact that they support a state (Israel) which actively funded and aided ISIS in order to destabilise its enemies in the region.
You can seen Rankin's far right sensibilities poking through in his older work. You can't fondly call Orson Scott Card your father in law and not share his regressive views

the difference between this and the rightwing action movies from rhe 80's or (it embarrases me to say this) the schlock by Taylor Sheridan is that that content, at its root, comes from a place that still believes the USA has some form of unifying mission. One of my favorite parts of this movie is the random German Nazi who I originally believed accidentally clicked the wrong team in the squad selection part of matchmaking. My first thought was “why tf is this guy on their team shouldn’t he be the most against the Muslim terrorists doing this?”. But then it hit me. When it scrolls up from the nazi dudes swastika on his leg it shows the books I guess checked out of the school library? (Which starts a whole series of questions about the content of the schools library). One of the first books you see is called “Nazi Palestine” and that’s when it hit me. This book is a general reference to the Nazi collab theory that the grand mufti of Palestine was the one who told Hitler to do the holocaust. This dude is on their squad cause he wants to continue, in their mind, the old alliance! Now why he would wanna establish a caliphate idk maybe he’s just one of those dudes in a game who’s playing for kills while the rest of the squad plays objective. Either way amazing addition to the movie I was so mad when they didn’t elaborate on him whatsoever.
