Lots of people had misgivings about Platner. The problem is that he had a mandate in a swing state. Now no Dem candidate has a mandate, which means that the GOP will retain control of the Senate until at least 2028. There is no silver lining to this.

Regarding birthright citizenship, it's worth noting that, on the other end, it's extremely hard to renounce US citizenship — it costs thousands of dollars to put through the paperwork — and the US is one of only two countries that legally requires you to pay full US taxes on any income you earn abroad, regardless of how much you also paid in the country you earned it.
