In a close election a lot of things have to click, however, I thought the Knicks Championship-Zoran Three Candidate endorsement ad was an absolute work of genius. e.g. perfect-timing, very economically way of getting three ads for the price of one, associating winning with a team, as opposed to winning like a mercenary. The message was upbeat and the presentation was novel. It was also a way of defining DAC before the opposition had the chance to do it for her. I thought that ad was the next level version of the AOC launch ad in 2018. That ad style has become so ubiquitous that even Andy F-cking Burnham used the same exact narrative template in a campaign launch ad in 2026 for the Makerfield by-election in the UK. NYC obviously has some of the greatest creative talent in the world, but compare those those two ads and media campaigns with the paint-by-numbers crap that Democratic candidates pay billions too consultants for every cycle. These candidates aren't just running circles around the establishment in their media campaigns, they are also investing in field operation, and clearly have the benefit of running candidates that inspire genuine enthusiasm from armies of volunteers. Of course, they don't have the luxury of taking every shot either, and are smart about the way they chose their opportunities.
