To anyone who wants an antidote to Reagan hagiography I'll recommend the F/X show "The Americans" 3 or 4 seasons in when the mom Russian spy & her daughter (who the parents have converted to a junior aspirational spy) are watching Reagan's famous "fun" press conference riffing, "I'm proud to say that I've just signed legislation that will ban Russia forever. We begin bombing in 5 minutes!" (And full disclosure-- I hated Reagan as a youngster after learning to hate Nixon by middle school. His presidency & all the MSM symping for racism & about how "youthful" granddad looked did lead me into the 1st wave punk scene c. 1982, so I do owe him that favor.)
Finishing that show left a gaping hole in my life. Truly elite

The Catholic church I grew up in actually did do the thing they mentioned with Palestinians, sort of. Every Advent they’d have someone come from the Bethlehem Wood Carvers selling wooden nativity scenes and crucifixes and stuff, and they’d have a little spiel at the homily about how Bethlehem is surrounded by a wall on three sides and is really close to Jerusalem but it takes all day for the Palestinians who live there to go to Jerusalem because of the checkpoints. It definitely wasn’t a holistic critique of Zionism or anything, but since a lot of Palestinian Christians are Catholic there is a connection there.
