Patreon Price?

I normally don't want to question prices. It's a sensitive subject.

But I've been having problems with my finances for the past months (or years?), so out of curiosity, I checked other NSFW gamedev Patreon pages. And I just realized that my monthly prices are really low.

In fact, I've seen prices as high as $20. I don't mean to be rude, but who pays for that much?!

Granted, those high-pricing Patreons are studios with wonderful games, and they obviously need to pay multiple talents.
I'm just a solo dev with a mediocre game.

I'll be honest, I really need to increase my price, but I'm afraid of overstepping my boundaries. So instead, I've been adding more effort to make more money, such as adding a $5 tier (with poll) and managing multiple Patreon pages. (And even with all that, it's still not enough, sadly)

So, I want to ask my Patrons instead, what do you think of my Patreon prices?

(This poll won't mean I will change my prices anytime soon. If I really, reeaally have to increase, that will be in the future, and I will announce beforehand if that ever happens)

Thank you everyone for your honest opinions. Once I get the opportunity, I'll make changes to my prices/tiers in the future based on the poll result and feedbacks.

Best action would be adding a $10 option. Allow those who can afford it support more and let those who can’t stay where they are. In terms of benefits maybe something like a bites/collectable multiplier. Allowing us to get shop items and boosts faster. Tho other ideas would be a perfectly fine alternative.

all your products are super high grade and your a solo dev. u are long overdue for a pay raise champ. even if adventure time was a combined effort all your other projects are super fun engaging and sooo polished. youve been working on this one for quite some time so maybe give some incentive for those who are very frugal. congrats to another banger

I would add tiers, many have stated already that well money is tight right now. However, I think your skills and work are awesome and asking for a bit more isn't out of the question. Just tier it so that people who can afford a bit more can and those who can't aren't shafted. :)

a lot of people are having money issues so maybe raising the price isn't the best currently but adding tiers would help as im sure there are many that would pay more if they can afford it.

So there's two categories to consider here for prices. The average game that I'm subscribed to on Patreon is $5 a month, so in that respect your prices are a little low. Those games do usually post around 5 new pieces of game art or animations per month for that amount of money. However, I'm actually just here for your art. I'm sorry, but I've never even booted up Nude Byte. $3 a month for one piece of art per month with a couple of variations is pretty high. For $3 from other artists I get about 20 finished pieces of art a month. I'm willing to pay it because I just love your art that much. (Especially the animations) Basically, if you post more art I have no problem paying a little bit more, but as it stands the price per piece of content that I'm interested in is already higher than average. I think adding higher tiers would be more appropriate if you don't plan to increase the rate of content.

I think there's a balance to be struck between keeping prices accessible for more possible supporters to join and enjoy the fruits of your labor, and charging more because frankly you deserve more for all the work you put into your art, games, and projects. Accessible prices means more patrons and patrons are likely to stick around, but I'm not sure how that would compare to overall higher prices. My suggestion is to meet in the middle and bump the prices a dollar or two, but also add one or two higher tiers with some kind of extra benefits - or even make explicit "donation" tiers, which is something I've seen on other creator's pages, for those who have the funds and generosity to support one of their favored creators a little extra.

I took the 3$ when it was the highest, hadn't realized a $5 so switched to it, def worth even more than that, think i typically see $10~ or so as common with lower tiers of support, will stay wherever, but def worth more considering the work put into it.

I've been a patron on and off for awhile now and as an adult with responsabilities and a long time gamer that has only subbed to three-four patreons I have two things to add to the conversation: 1) I would have never subbed for more than $3 initially. 2) Your game is more fun and more complete, if a bit arcadie (not a bad thing a very good thing actually), than most of the NSFW vaporware out there. You want my advice as a cheapskate and a guy that watches games live and die on their player bases: keep a $1 tier, up the other tiers to $5 and $8-$10. $8 a month is way easier to swallow than $10 so it'll atract people looking at other games that don't want to pay $10 a month, but that extra $2 from say 500 of your Patrons is an extra $1000 a month so priorities.

I'll be honest, I wouldn't be interested in paying more for Nude Byte, I consider it expensive as is for what it is - But that's specifically a Nude Byte problem. The nature of the games design precludes it uh... 'use' as a one handed NSFW game, as its a fairly involved splatoonalike to play. So it doesn't really enter my consideration for 'smut game' very well. However, the NSFW aspects also inhibit its appeal outside of the NSFW space - Folks who just want a good splatoonalike are getting anime tiddy bounced all over the place. Prior games like Nicoles Risky Job didn't have this issue and I would have been willing to pay more for development of that kind of content. That's not to say Nude Byte is bad, just that its a weird place of being a smut game that's not very conductive to smutty use.

Can't really afford much, but I also don't think the price is right either

Perhaps you could make a higher tier that shows recordings of the process of things you make. Like while you're doing your thing just record slap some smoothe jazz or something over top of it and boom, behind the sceens. Wouldn't mind a dollar or 2 increase either, do as you will

tbh . the only reason am still patreon . it because your cheap all the 15$ and more . i pay once and stop . if you expect me to pay 240$ yearly for a game. well your now fighting if i pay you or food for family. a 5$ a month can go unotice for a long time. you keep probably more that way.

I have been following your work since before the Adventure Time game was an actual game, back when it was just an Adventure Time in Anime Style simulator, your work is well worth it!

add tiers for discord privileges like 10$ gets you a unique discord roll and chat. or bump up the price to 10 and add a tier for discord and or a name in the credits of the game. Either way you're games are awesome and so is the art! Also those one off tiers for those crazy enough to drop 50 for one month then drop their sub to 10 work wonders.

I'd say a price increase of somekind is definitely in order

Yeah I'm in the increase 2-5 bucks, which isn't technically an option

Feel free to add or change the tiers and give different benefits. The only thing I'd say is that as an Australian, the prices can feel like a lot more, so having "affordable" options is good.

I’d have no problem paying 2-5 bucks more, your work is great.

Nicole's Risky Job is why you get my money every month I've never even touched nude byte and even then I wouldn't be upset with an extra dollar or two

Dont under sell yourself, you do amazing work. The fact that you've built the community you have now and your art is so easily distinguishable is something to be proud of.
