The permanent wave, back when they started doing those, the machine they're talking about actually did run an electric current through the hair and basically fried it into a perm. Babbs-Switch happened very close to where I live! My grandmother had a book written about the tragedy by someone(I think) in the Hobart community. I remember grandmother telling us that the tragedy is the reason exit doors ALWAYS open outwards now. Apparently that was not the norm before Babbs-Switch
