The Ax Murder Zombie - Delmar, New York
This week, in Delmar, New York, a terrible ax murder is discovered inside a blood covered home, where one of the victims went into "autopilot", continuing his morning routine, while having horrific & mortal wounds. But the biggest surprise happens after a second victim is discovered. The killer turns out to be cold blooded, remorseless, flashy, and driving one of the most conspicuous vehicles that a person could drive. The interrogation is so bad, that it's used as an example by experts, but will that blow the whole case???
Along the way, we find out that a human sized otter character may scare kids, more than enchant them, that you shouldn't drive a bright yellow, jacked up Jeep to drive back & forth across ther state, if you don't want to be noticed, and that when you're dealing with a psychopath, you have to interrogate them a very particular way!!

I’m from Buffalo and we know far too well what Genesee, Genny Light and the pinnacle of beers, Genny Cream Ale are. When I was in high school in the 90’s gas stations would sell a cube of Genny products- 30 cans in a cube box for $9.99. We called the Genny Cream Ale Genny Screamers” and if you’d like to know why just drink a few but make sure to find yourself a nice comfy crapper the following day- you’re gonna need it. If you ever grew up in Western New York you know this beer very well. Everyone’s grandpa had a 12 pack of this in the fridge or you’d see them littered around anywhere teens hang out to drink
This would have been great live
“You’re not gonna bait me!” lmao
I hate this guy. His poor mom.
Think this was one of first court TV covered trials. An adopted kid in a small New Mexico ranch town killed his whole family. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/teen-guilty-in-ranch-killings/
Brings back memories of living up there. We moved before this happened but fam made sure we knew. Uncle lives in delmar
“He’s got a jacked-up bumblebee murder-Jeep, killed his parents with an axe at niiight, in his jacked-up bumblebee murder-Jeep, if you think he’s a douche: You’re right! He’s a card-scammin’, cop jammin’, school-shammin’, sister slammin’, shit-spammin’ tit-on-a-stick… in his jacked up bumblebee murder-Jeep – that boy really thought he was slick” 🎶
HIDDEN GEM
“Douche bag of the highest order” HA is that a play on “URochester’s” slogan “Medicine of the highest order” 🤣
Reminds me of the sleepwalking scene in Step Brothers
Is Cardona a popular last name in New York? I know of Matt Cardona/Zack Ryder. Is it that common, or could they be related?
the most simple animal life on our planet don't kill their own parents and we're the enlightened species?
I’ll make your Etsy shit without Etsy, with lots of cussing and a discount 🖤
Henry Hill in Hannibal haha
Great episode. As someone in law, any immediate threat would be reported absolutely. Thanks for my shoutout. Jimmie got my name wrong and although I think my name is fairly usual, I think I’m happier than if he had got it right lol
A pocket computer meaning a palm pilot?
Ah, yes, the carven stones of olde. (I had one and loved it 👵)
Not to diminish the victim's death - but you guys should do a bonus on Phineas Gage ...
Etsy can eat my shorts. Folks who swear have been proven to be smarter
The Flawed Interview of a Psychopathic Killer: What went wrong? I just downloaded it from an online archive.
Hey Jim's - I'm 55, and getting up to pee pretty much equals the time I spend asleep these days - and my prostate is fine! If you're lucky, and live a long life, there's a great deal of nocturnal bathroom breaks to come. Enjoy 😁 (Oh, great episode too)
YAY indeed!! I've been messaging every so often to suggest this one. Lives rent free in my head. Chris Porco was my vet tech, even during that year out on bail. The vet stood by him then (not sure her current status), and I believe he was staying with her. We all kept tabs on the yellow Jeep sightings. Remember him being spotted at Broadway Joe's (nightspot downtown Albany) and at the Four Corners cafe. It was often stated how tall, handsome, athletic he was but there's nothing behind those killer/shark eyes. "The Romeo Killer," cheesy TV movie based on this story, played on the handsome theme. Once imprisoned, many women threw themselves at him resulting in a marriage. Re Joan Porco - her school district staff donated sick days when hers ran out. They were ready to do it again but the district said no, they were going to try to force her to retire. But poor Joan had to return to work, teaching kids speech, with a clear ax mark scar across her face. Horrible.
Always love a North East episode, almost guaranteed to sing Hava Nagila
RIT alum checking in, unfortunately the acronym is not RIOT. Though the students almost rioted when they took the dots out of the name
I had Mrs. Porco as a teacher in Schalmont school district, she was a very nice lady to me after our families house fire.
I can not *stand* listening to cops in interrogations. Every single cop I've heard says word salad bullshit and "y'know" every third word while they trying and "cleverly" say what they think happened, which is obviously the only option of what happened. It's painful and every single cop does it. "Be a man" and "your manhood" are also the stupidest fucking way to try and get someone to confess. And they ALL DO IT.
I’m forever grateful to my son’s speech therapist. She def changed his life for the better. Including the bullying he endured due to his speech issues during KINDERGARTEN! How there is bullying in KG is astonishing to me. Anyway - shout out to speech therapists!!
Love this ep. I’ve heard it before I think
I grew up on this street . It was named for the builder. My father described Mr Porco as having his "reptile brain" take over his actions. I wonder if Chris has ever admitted to his mother that he actually did the crime.
Either admitting or accusing would rupture the conjoined fantasy. It's almost folie a deux, a shared madness, even psychosis. Even if she asked or told him, he'd deny it. IMHO
My brother went to the Rochester Institute of Technology, unfortunately it’s just RIT 😔
I mean I watch Total Recall is that weird LOL I like 80 to 90s movies
Court appointed defense attorney here. Lots of us put up with a lot of threats as just part of the job. Threats to my family are probably where I’d draw the line.
That Aesop reference was peak James. 😂😂😂
Genny light. Genesee Brewering company based in Rochester NY. Shit beer Great restaurant 👌🏾
Something about the dad in autopilot pulling on the sliding door makes me so sad 😭
I agree. That was sad. 💯
D’Angelo is dead.
I'm 58 I get up once, if ever, to pee
I saw the title and knew exactly what this episode would be about! I am a neighbor to this residence and thought you would never cover it because is our town really this small? (I have paused as I write this to hear what you have to say about my small town) yes we are proud when we get on those best lists! The 3 star is correct but it goes deeper seems anyone without a family member buried in the original local cemetery IS considered an “alien” and therefore it is harder to fit in. Those numbers for a house price are actually older - prices are much higher! All in all it’s not a bad place to live and this case is still fodder for backyard conversation. Hey I volunteer at 5 Rivers it’s pretty relaxing and popular as we like to believe we are an active outdoor community. I can’t wait to hear the rest and have told all my family and friends to listen to this episode.
Thank you for this show. I had to euthanize my dog this morning and this show is making me laugh through my tears. I don’t know what I would do without you. Love you guys!
I’m so sorry to hear about your dog 😢 I had to put my KittyKidd down. Bad times
I had heard about this story, but no one tells a story like you James!! And so many more details! Love you guys!!
I know this story from true crime TV shows but James and Jimmie are on point! I remember Mrs. Porco’s delusion about her despicable son Chris!
I’m from a Military family and joining the Military prior to college create college to be paid for fully. It’s a good way to go and helps one be more disciplined while in college having Military responsibilities on weekends.
I really love “Casey Anthony’s Hallway”, CAH, like a giant exhalation with no following breath.
Jimmie saying "oh, that last one" killed me lol
RIT definitely not a RIOT LMAO. Though ive been to a few parties that weren't half bad. Huge definitely student population
This crafty bitch is happy to help with whatever you need (within my skill set). It would be an honor.
I can’t talk shit about the yellow Jeep because I drive a bright pink Jeep 😂 but they are for sure a very obvious vehicle. Of all cars, why drive that to a murder? 💀
I actually cheered when James said ‘guilty’ fuck that kid
Genny Lite- my CNY dad’s drink of choice 🤮
Rochester's "finest"
One of my favorite episodes! Good job James. Amazing work!
One of my sisters drives a yellow Jeep. 😂
I call absolute BS on the culinary disaster review. I was born and raised 518, and I left, but one thing about the NY Capital Region is that there is absolutely good food to be had, largely because of the significant Italian American immigration to the region, which has been built upon by subsequent immigration expanding the offerings. For work, I’ve traveled to parts of the country where you’re actually grateful to see an Olive Garden, but where I grew up ain’t one of them.
Right??!! Additionally, it's close to culinary schools, has a diverse population (sanctuary city), and as you said, many generations Italian owned restaurants.
I love whenever you both get to sing the Jewish song 🤣
1:36:20 — more proof that Nelly is the patron saint of this podcast. Honorable mention: Luda
I fucking LOVE ice cold water before bed, but I will be up to pee at least once if I drink too much!
This is one of my favorite Forensic Files - oldie but a goodie... The idea of this gentleman getting the paper and pouring cereal in his autonomic state is terrifying.
Totally. This is one of like 3 Forensic Files episodes that’s burned into my brain.
Sorry guys the acronym for Rochester Institute of Technology is RIT, not RIoT. What a missed opportunity.
Person from small town here..I cant wait to move cause im so fuckin sick of everyone watching me for no reason. I drove to the store yesterday and someone texted me why I had hair down and no hat on. they saw me while driving. LEAVE ME ALONE 😂
My literal nightmare. I don't need anyone reminding me that I've worn the same shirt three days in a row, and it's gradually acquired more stains, thanks.
I love the way you guys do the “ritual” nowadays rather than the older episodes. Can’t wait to see you guys for the first time in Medford/Boston!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I unintentionally word salad with people and then when I leave the conversation I wonder how the person on the other end understands any of that. 🤦♀️
The lag between you two is real
Seemed appropriate to acknowledge my speech therapist Nancy Drabik a remarkable woman who changed my life. Still remember all you did and still am incredibly grateful for the kindness.
They are creeping closer and closer to my hometown. This one is within an hour of me.
Oh Jimmie you're not going to enjoy your nights in a few years' time. Why yes I had to get up to pee three times last night, and I've not long turned 50
Drink (much) less water closer to bedtime. Drink your last full glass like 2 hours before you go to bed. I’m 63 and love to help with these matters when I can. 😏
The victim still being alive is why medics are needed on the scene. I'm a medic. I was toned out to a self-inflicted GSW. A cop met me as I stepped out of the ambulance & told me "it's obvious" so we didn't go in & cleared the scene. Less than 2 min later we were called back emergently. Arrived back on scene, same cop meets me at my door, & says "He's still breathing". I said "He's fucking what?"! Dude had shot himself in the head but the brain stem wasn't damaged so all his autonomic functions (ie: respiratory & cardiac) were still going. He eventually died d/t traumatic brain injury. I no longer take the word of a cop about whether or not someone is dead. I'll check for myself, thank you. 🤦♀️
Thanks for doing the good work ❤️
My favorite color on any vehicle is yellow, especially a jeep lol
Genny Lite?! As an underage teen, genny cream ale is what we snuck from the owners if the campground we were at (friends with their son). I didnt know there was a genny lite. Sounds awful
I sometimes hear Jimmie say I'm Jimmie Whistler, and then a secret voice "and I'm his mom. LOL" (FYI, portrait by JAMES Whistler'.)
I’m from the 518 area in NY. I remember when this happened.
Same!!
What’s up with STM people and conspicuous vehicles? Between this one and the Washington Township, Michigan episode
Pastors Wife episode please
No mica miller patreon?!? 😭
I feel like Jimmie has been done with “Hava Nagila”, since…well…since it started ;)
He'd not done, he's harmonizing!
Nagila!!!!!
How can I be expected to enjoy this episode without the T bowl to B hole ratio?😁
Around 1:35ish will make up for this when they discuss the police transcript with out of context stripping in the interview room.
Yay! 👏🏾 🎉
yay indeed, Jennifer S., yay indeed.
