Pattern and Instructions: The Siren Bodice
There were a number of patterns we had to cut from my upcoming book, Gertie Sews Glam Knits, and this was one of my favorites.
The Siren Bodice is what happens when a humble T-shirt decides to dress up in 1940s glamour. This fully lined bodice gives you all the comfort of your favorite jersey knit—soft, stretchy, and easy to wear—but with a dramatically different style.
The bodice is fully lined and has a jewel neckline with a back keyhole opening and a clever one-piece construction with no side seams. The sleeves drape into a soft cowl from the shoulder.
This bodice can be mixed and matched with the skirts from Gertie Sews Glam Knits to create a dress or gown, or the bottom portion of the Sphinx Top can be added to create a separate top.
I'm so excited to see all of the knits that you'll be sewing soon! Is the Siren Bodice going to be one of them?
xoxo,
Gertie

Perfect for my mashine embroidery, love it 🥰🥰🥰
Not sure where to post so I thought your latest post would be the best idea- I’d love to make a Boardwalk dress with a bodice that gives the same vibes but maybe just slight more coverage for those of us that always wear a bra and can’t stand it showing? Any recommendations for adjusting that dress to stay in summer mode and same vibe but just a bit more coverage?
I wonder if you could attach it to the Sophia full/circle skirt?
French darts are my favourite 🇫🇷
Love ❤️
Okay now i think I really need the new book. Is it only an Ebook? Or can I get a physically copy + digital patterns?
It is a wonderful physical book + digital patterns ❤️ Gertie’s books are beyond awesome and full of techniques inspirations and of course also patterns 😀
This makes me SO excited for the book. If this gorgeous design didn’t make the cut, I can only imagine what did!
I'm concerned with how comfortable that draped fabric is in the armpit. Would someone report back after they have made this?
That is OMG amazing... That's what you call cherry 🍒 on top and the embellishments beautiful
This is a gorgeous T! I like its simplicity so much more than the top released on the first of the month (can I say that?).
I wonder if one can lower the neckline because I do like this pattern. Off to read the instructions....
This is fantastic.
This is the perfect piece to try with silk jersey.
Oooohhhh yes
LOVE! This is so versatile! I can see this in different colors, broaches, appliques, single handmade rose, or bridal! I don't know anyone getting married, but I always see potential brides. Base of this dress allows so many different vibes.....
I adore this! Effortlessly chic and so easy to really dress up or keep classic for some day or work wear. Thank you Gertie! ♥️
Nevermind!!! I commented in my excitement before I read through the instructions for the bodice. Thank you so much for linking the fabric😍😍😍
Squeee!!! This is so pretty! Can we get some fabric info for the dress you made here? I am getting so excited for the book to arrive!!
Love it , especially with the appliqué. I’ve never sewn any on a garment before, is there anything special you need to do to the bodice?
Oh Gertie you spoil us, love love love - now to get some pretty applique like the one you have on the inspiration photo
This absolutely makes US tax day soooo much better!!! ❤️❤️❤️
That beading, 🤩
Perfect excuse to fabric shop!!!
Oooo This is fun! ❤️❤️ We might get a few of the patterns here you wanted to put into the book, but the editor said you couldn’t. Love it! 😍
I love it when I lose track of the date and these mid month patterns hit my inbox :-)
WOWZERS!
GORGEOUS xx
I’ve been wanting to make something like this!!! Thank you!!!
Stupid question - would a top like this have to be made in a knit fabric? Or could I substitute a woven fabric and size up?
Another beautiful knit pattern i feel so spoiled 😍
So so elegant !!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Oo la la! This is a type of cut that works well for me. Love it !
yasssss this is what i have been waiting for ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
