Hint for Tomorrow's Release!
Hello, lovely! I am getting excited for the release of my latest book, Gertie Sews Glam Knits (available May 19 - have you preordered your copy?), and April’s Patreon pattern may have something to do with that! I’m excited about this pattern because it has serious fashion pedigree, as well as a touch of Hollywood Icons.
Put your guesses into the comments about the pattern, the designer or technique that was the inspiration, or what you're hoping to see with tomorrow's release.
Whatever could it be?
xoxo,
Gertie

I did preorder!
Oooh, this has been my regular request on the annual poll: a draped 1950s-style dress. Yes, Madame Grés, mastered this but I'm also thinking of Helen Rose's white draped dress for Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
My god, these guesses are exciting me!!!!
This is exciting. I absolutely love these pleated Grecian style dresses. I’ve been looking at fortuny’s Delpho’s dress for ages and contemplating how to make it. But this is very much in this same style.
How does everyone already know who these designers are! I'm so far behind, but thankful for the designer lessons and associated inspirations!
Yes! Draping and pleating, can’t wait to see what is in store
Knit Two piece But drapey Grecian My brain will explode
Embarrassed to have thought Grey Gardens at first 😳 What even were my eyes up to? Excited to learn about this designer!
Because she gives Little Edie Vibes?!❤️Grey Gardens is fantastic!
I'm really loving these deep dives into fashion! So many books only touch the names that everybody knows. I'm learning so much!
Madame Gres Greek dress. https://collectionapi.metmuseum.org/api/collection/v1/iiif/81122/354830/restricted
Madam Grés draping! Peekholes!
May well be a master class in drape
I have gone from buying Gertie's patterns, to collect them and know learning about some great names in fashion 😎🥰🥰
I hope it's like this: https://fondationazzedinealaia.org/en/couturiers/madame-gres/
Maybe the haute couture, spring-summer 1959 Outer dress layer of an evening gown in bright green and rhubarb silk organdy. It would be more feasible for us mere mortals.
I have no idea what it could be, but I can’t wait to find out what it is tomorrow 😊👍🏻
Omgosh! This is my first time seeing the work of Madame Gres, but wow! I am loving the theme of this year's Patreon, and enjoying the fashion icon deep dive!! Brilliant, Gertie Team!!
Oh my gosh I’m gonna die! I LOVE HER! She was classic, and very glamorous. But not over the top in your face. Just classy and quietly …. Perfect! Gorgeous! I’m totally into minimalist 90’s Carolyn Kennedy fashion right now, and this designer fits right into that! I’m so excited!
I don't know exactly which gown it will be but someone who resisted in WW2 is a perfect choice
This is honestly the best theme this year! I've always loved the excitement of seeing the new patterns, and it's always gorgeous....but the history, and the depth of learning and culture involved in the theme this year has genuinely been so joyful and inspiring. And we all need more joy right now, so thank you Gertie and team!!!
Oooo maby something like her Vouge Paris 1751 pattern??
I was looking at the same thing.
A knit pattern maybe? A Grecian pattern? I love Greece, so Ferto mou.
I know nothing about designers so I had to look her up and all I can say is… WOW 🤩 WOW 🤩 WOW 🤩😍😍😍😍 Absolutely amazing and I love it, no matter what it is! 😊🤗
First, I just want to acknowledge how awesome all the fellow Patreons are. You guys know SO much stuff about fashion. I'm just learning about all of this, but you guys are so helpful and full of info. Draping? Wow I've never even considered trying draping techniques. This month is going to be fun!
Silvana mangano in the movie Ulisse
Well, since that is, in fact, a photo of Madame Grés, ...
Norma Kamali? Nope! Madame Gres.
oooo a stretch Grecian gown? Something akin to or to go with Claudette?
ooh is that Madame Vionnet??? I've been dying for a Madame Vionnet pattern! ETA: Non! Madame Gres! La reine du drape! C'est perfect! J'adore!
Oooo 👀
Crossing my fingers that it's something like Grace Kelly's swimsuit coverup in High Society 🤞🏻🤞🏻
La reine du drapé
A Madame Grès-inspired Grecian draped gown? It would be lovely!
Ooohhh please be a knit pattern! I have soooo much knit fabric to use up 😅
I’m terrible at guessing but I can’t wait! LOVE knits!
The Queen of Drapery!
Perhaps a draped Grecian gown?
Madame Gres! I foresee a lot of Grecian influence and a lot of gathered fabric!
Very inspiring!
Ooooh if this is a stretch pattern I’m going to be so happy, been stocking up on stretch fabric ready for the book release! Xx
Oh!!! Madame Grès!!!
Madame Grès, renowned for her elegant draping techniques. Oh I hope we get to learn some draping techniques.
au secours. i am too excited for this.
Okay, tbh, I had to look up who this is, but wow! Madame Grès?!? Exciting!! 😍
Madame Grès! I love her draping!!! I'm so excited about this!
Ooooh I bet it’s going to have lots of draping or pleats!
I'm so excited for more knits! I can never guess the pattern ahead of time, but I just purchased a Babylock coverstitch and can't wait to get to work on something new
Ok, someone give me more hints! I’m excited
