Video: The Butterfly Dress
Come sew along with me and Buddy as I sew a midi-length Butterfly Dress with wrist-length slit sleeves out of shifty, finicky silk georgette.
This dress is fairly easy to sew, but the construction steps don't follow the usual order of things, since the dress is fully lined to the hem and sleeves.
Don't forget to download this pattern and instructions in the separate Butterfly Dress pattern post.
xoxo,
Gertie

One thing i am wondering, when i make dresses in all fabric, i overlock all the sides first, before sewing them together, is there a reason for not overlocking the fabric? :)
If you prefer to construct things this way, you can!

Stink bug cameo 😂🪲 Love the dress! 🦋
All the creatures wanted in on this video!
Oh, I love this. I can see me making all three versions, but I think I’ll start with the elaborate one:)
Oh my, I was so seeing the moment when you pick up the sleeve, the cat has its claws in it, and the very light, flimsy and pretty georgette is ripped from head to bottom... Good sewing-with-cat skills Gertie 😁
It's a delicate skill but I've been working at it for years ;)
I love it so much!
Simply gorgeous!!
