The monsters that were originally around here took refuge somewhere during that mess before the rainy season, and came back once they learned things had calmed down; monsters from elsewhere noticed that the territory around here had opened up and came in... The monsters currently in the shallows of the North Forest are mostly one of these two patterns.
But the goblin we defeated earlier didn't seem to be either.
If that's the case, then where did it come from... that's what you'd think, but it's probably from the forest on the opposite bank.
Monsters from First Forest also rarely come over here, but weak individuals with no combat experience don't go out of their way to come, after all.
But still... would such a weak individual cross the river to come all the way here?
Besides, this forest's already recovered to some extent, so I doubt such a weak individual could get by safely without being attacked.
The squad members must've been bothered by that too, so they're probably trying to leave in a hurry.
If the monsters waiting in the forest on the opposite bank had some kind of plan and sent a monster with no combat experience over here, then it'd be dangerous to stay in this place for long.
So with that, we were moving a bit faster.
Because we were moving along the riverbank in a gap in the forest, the squad members were able to keep up properly.
It was so we could get out of the forest quickly, but at this speed, the monsters probably wouldn't be able to make a move so easily.
Thanks to that, after the earlier battle, no monsters came out in front of us, and we were able to safely get out of the North Forest onto the grassland.
And about a minute after I got out onto the grassland, the squad members came out onto the grassland one after another.
"As expected... everyone's here. Good work, everyoneー"
When I flew over to the squad members who'd come out of the forest, I gave them words of appreciation.
"Yeah. A battle did break out, but... we managed to finish it with just that one."
"What'll we do with this corpse? Are we taking it back?"
The squad members, still pointing their spears at the goblin's corpse, asked while showing it to me.
It had pierced cleanly through the abdomen, so it'd probably be possible to take it back to town just like that, but... it's a monster from the North Forest, after all.
While I was hesitating, wondering, "What should we do...", another squad member called out to me.
"A goblin from the North Forest isn't something we'd need to go out of our way to dissect, so I'll burn it. I don't have as much firepower as Commander Zighart, but if it's just burning a corpse, I can produce enough firepower."
Apparently he was from the First Squad and could use magic.
He volunteered to burn the corpse.
"Right... I'll leave it to you."
If it were just burning a corpse, a Combustion Orb would be more convenient, but unfortunately, I came empty-handed today.

"In that case..."
I thought I'd give instructions to prepare for the incineration, but.
"Are we burning it here? If we burn it on the grassland, the smoke might be visible from the front gate."
"Should I just report that there's nothing to worry about? I'll go to the west gate, so someone take care of the north gate too."
"I'll go."
The squad members quickly divided the roles among themselves.
Although there were regular replacements, just as you'd expect from having operated under Zighart for nearly a month, they were quite used to it.
It didn't look like I'd be needed.
I watched the corpse being burned with admiration.

Well, the corpse disposal was finished, and after that, once they returned to the territorial capital and reported to the Knight Order headquarters, their mission would be complete.
They were enough on their own, and I probably wasn't needed... so with that, in order to meet up with Zighart, who I'd split from in the forest, I set off toward the grassland on the west side of the territorial capital.
For now, I didn't hear any flashy battle sounds from the forest, and Zighart seemed to be moving quietly, but... there's no way he'd do something as conspicuous as going around defeating monsters in the forest on foot.
He's probably just looking around casually and, if he sees a monster that should be defeated, subjugating it—something like that.
"If that's the case, it might be hard to find him from above? ... It might be a good idea to enter the forest at a suitable place, but what should we do?"
While thinking about how to find Zighart, I went from the western grassland toward the north.
