While I was inspecting the pouch and each piece of equipment for a while, Fiora, who'd parted from us at the underground magic research institute, came into the room.
She'd stayed behind to finish tidying up the work, and that must've ended.
"……Oh? It's just the two of you?"
Fiora, from just inside the room, looked around the interior with a puzzled expression.
"Good work today. Lady Sera and Elena haven't come back yet."
"Seems that way."
"Did something happen?"
When Teresa stopped her work and asked Fiora, who'd come over to us, Fiora shrugged her shoulders.
"I had something I wanted to consult with the lady about, so I thought I'd go to her office, but I ran into a clerk from the office on the way, so I asked whether they were in the office."
"They weren't?"
"Yes. I thought they might've already gone back to the room, but…… they might be meeting someone in the conference room or the lounge. Well…… it's not urgent, so I'll wait here."
With that, Fiora sat down next to me.
"So? What're you two doing? This isn't maintenance, right?"
"For now, my outside missions are over. I'm going to send the equipment to the workshop for inspection…… but before that, I thought I'd do a simple cleaning or something……"
"You'd been asked to collect samples, so it's different from how you normally use it. I'll help."
Fiora reached over the table, picked up equipment at random, and kept changing it for something else.
Then, picking up the pouch, she lit a small light spell at her fingertip and began looking inside.
"There's no damage or noticeable dirt, but…… a few stains have formed."
"I just put containers and stuff in there as-is, you know. Also, I'd separated them into different cases, but I also put Combustion Orbs and stuff in there together, so I think it's probably that."
"So you were taking them out of their cases inside this. Combustion Orbs aren't hardened on the outside to make them easier to activate, so fragments inevitably spill.…… I wish I could improve it, but it's difficult."
Fiora sighed and turned the pouch inside out.
It's made of leather, but the inside is lined with a thick beige cloth.
Several faint stains had formed on the cloth, but…… for now, is that about it?
"Well…… for how it gets used, it's pretty clean, don't you think?"
I always wear this pouch when heading to outside hunting grounds or dungeons, and thinking about that, can't you say it's been handled pretty carefully for it to only end up like this?
Teresa, across from me, nodded at my words and said, "That's right."
"In the first place, you don't handle equipment roughly, Princess. You take out your tools each time, and even in the royal capital's Knight Order where I was, they didn't handle things this carefully."
"That's right. These stains look like they just appeared too…… I can remove this. I'll borrow that brush."
Fiora picked up a small brush from among the tools lined up on the table and, with her other hand, began stroking the stained spots.
"……Oh? You're using magic?"
Since I'm indoors, I haven't activated 【Fairy's Eye】, so I can't see magic power, but…… still, I can feel something like a presence.
"I'm mixing water and wind. It's a magic that alchemists who specialize in research and experiments came up with to hide or cover up stains when they spill chemicals. It doesn't have any use in battle, but it's surprisingly convenient if you learn it."
Fiora, while talking, stroked the stained spots for a while, then released her hand and began slowly scrubbing them with the brush.
Even though she wasn't using detergent or applying much force, the stains came out right away.
"……It certainly seems useful. Could you teach me sometime when you have time?"
"Yes. You should be able to learn it right away. Once this is cleaned up, I'll teach you."
