While I was briskly clearing away the cases brought before me one after another, a knock rang out at the research lab door.
One of the staff headed over and opened the door, and I heard a voice quietly relaying their business.
Incidentally, the owner of that voice was Teresa.
I’d told the servant in Seriana’s room that I was coming here, so she probably heard that and came over.
As I was giving the staff instructions to prepare a space for Teresa, she came over, voicing an apology with “Sorry for the delay.”
“Good work. It’s not like you’re late or anything... but is your work for today already done?”
When I indicated she should sit in the open space, she answered, “Thank you,” and sat down.
“I’ve gone around to the various places to make contact and give reports. I’ve also finished lunch... so today I’ll just be spending time somewhere I can be reached.”
Teresa, seated in the chair, looked over the worktable and seemed to figure out what I was doing.
“Is there anything I can help with?”
“Well... right now I’m checking whether any outside magical power remains in the cases. I’m placing these corresponding cards based on the amount of remaining magical power—can you do that?”
Teresa picked up one of the triage cards, turning it over and checking the whole thing.
“This is just a card, isn’t it? It’s only for identification, right?”
“Right, right. That’s the sample.”
I handed Teresa the paper with the triage instructions written on it that I’d set aside at the edge because it was in the way.
How much magical power remaining meant which color card to put down... that sort of thing was written on it, but Teresa stared back and forth between that paper and the bottles, and after a little while she looked over with a strained smile.
“It seems like difficult work until you get used to it... but for the Princess, it looks easy.”
“Well... the work itself is easy. There’s just a lot of them...”
When I let out a sigh and looked at the corner of the room where the boxes were piled, Teresa, who had also looked that way, nodded in exasperation.
“Certainly, with that many, there’s no end to it even if they’re handed to me. ...Understood. Even if I joined in here, it won’t change the speed of the work much, so I’ll do the sorting over there.”
Teresa stood up from the seat where she’d placed the card and walked over to the boxes piled in the corner.
I’d set aside time for standby and a break... I thought it’d be fine to just hang around here chatting idly while working, but with her personality, it seems that’s not possible.
She’d gone and started moving to make the work easier.

“...Oh my? I only looked away for a little while, but you’ve made quite a lot of progress.”
After a while, Fiora, who’d been holed up in her own room, showed herself over here.
Then, she looked over the worktable and the room with wide eyes.
“Teresa’s been working hard for us.”
Ever since Teresa came to the research lab, she’d sorted the boxes that had just been piled up haphazardly by their contents, so we could now repeat the same work.
Until just now, they’d probably been bringing them in the order the boxes were stacked, not by their contents.
The amount of residual magical power didn’t change all that much, so it was easy to tell them apart... that was an advantage, but the shapes of the containers in each case were all different, and the work gradually became a hassle.
For a normal person doing the examining, that might actually be less of a burden, but for me, who can tell the amount of magical power at a glance, continuing the same work is easier.
Thanks to that, the work speed had gone up somewhat.
Though, this would be difficult with just the staff here.
Because even if they aren’t large, opening boxes containing many cases and transferring things to arrange the contents requires physical labor.
“Teresa, how can you carry so many at once? Each one is small, but there are multiple of them inside, so it must be heavy, right?”
