Askeladd has always been looking at the bigger picture even though it doesn't seem like it yet
He killed the rider so he wouldnt continue on and warn the main army, if they show up he loses his bargain chip of canute. Rn only hos force knows about Canutes capture so if they get him back they can offer to both sides.
Blind gang reporting! I believe Canute, as the prince, is King Sweyn's son. Ragnar is his, like, nanny or whatever lol. Also, what it must be like to know Thorkell biblically.
Fun Fact: during Throfinn's Vinland dream, a small detail is all the flowers are actually flowers native to north america, also Bath England is a real location and is named for the ruins of Roman bathes found there
Improper Vision! RISE UP!!!!
Ragnarok is the Viking's version of the Apocalypse. All the brave warriors who died in battle will fight alongside Thor and Odin and battle every day which is a Viking's greatest honor where people like Thorkell would love nothing more than to live to die a warrior's death, a very different set of values for them
He killed the messenger because the messenger wanted them to work alongside the main force of King Sweyn to save Canute. Askeladd want's to rescue Canute on his own and then use him as a bartering chip against Sweyn to get money from him.
Vinland is a real place, it is what the Vikings called the American continent. Leif Eriksson (the Leif in the show) is a real historical figure who discovered America nearly 500 years before Columbus did.
Jack about to have that moment when you realize you live in Vinland.
The reason why Askeladd killed the solider, was so he couldn't report back and not to share the reward if they beat thorkell's group
